"The reward that I want..."
"Is your family."
"Your family is most important to you...so I want your family."
"Does that mean you want to kill and eat my family?" Emma asked
"No." He simply replied.
"I can't kill you or your family, and I don't intend to. Don't worry. All of the children can live and go to the human world."
"Then..."
"But you'll say goodbye to your family."
"I'll take your family from your world. Your past connections and future connections. Everything."
"That is the reward. I'll grant your wish. But in return... You'll never see your family again."
"And remember. You and your family can go to the human world...at a cost. Long ago, someone had cursed this place. Anyone who tries to forge a new promise so that the cattle children would be free...would have to pay the price. The one who forged the new promise, along with 2 of his or her family, would be sent to another period of time. A time when demons still existed in the human world. If they survive till the very end, they will go back to the future when they die in that other period of time. If they end up being killed by demons, then their ghosts will be stuck in the past forever. This is the price you and your family will have to pay."
"Okay."
"Are you sure? You'll be alone. The future that you want beyond this wish is to laugh and live with your family."
"Yeah." Emma replied. "But this isn't a sacrifice. It's settling things. Settling ym selfish requests. Of course I want to be with everyone. I don't want to forget them, and this decision will probably anger them too. But this way, everyone can go to the human world. There will be no demons. No one will be food. We'll never have to be terrified. We'll never have to kill. Both humans and demons can be free. We can completely stop the tragedy that we've kept repeating up until now. From now on, everyone can live happily. Thank you. It's the best future I can hope for!"
*Timeskip*
"An island floating above golden water?"
"Just like the underground lake at Goldy Pond."
"Stairs?"
"What is this place?"
"I've heard of it." Norman spoke. "The passageway the Ratri clan used to come and go as well as to transport goods."
"I'll use this water to tell Him that I want to implement the promise. And then, we can go safely to the human world!" Emma said.
"Tell? How? Are you going to the seven walls again?" Asked Jemima.
"No, actually..." Emma replied.
"What about the reward?" Phil asked.
"The reward? Will everything be ok? You have to give a reward, right? Emma, you're going to be able to go to the human world too, right?" Chris asked worriedly.
"Don't worry." Emma assured them.
"Really?" Phil exclaimed. "You're not going to die or be forced to stay in this world, or anything like that for sure?"
"For sure." Emma reassured them. "Me, everyone here and the children from other farms will all survive and won't be left behind. We can all go to the human world, alive."
"Then what was the reward?" Phil asked, still not believing that they could all go to the human world together." "What's the price we're paying to go to the human world?"
" The reward He wanted was my family." Emma told them, shocking everyone. Emma continued.
"Your family is most important to you, so I want your family. But there's a problem. Your family will all go to the human world. That's the promise, so I can't have your family. So this time, for you, I don't need any reward." Emma repeated what He had said to her, but yet this time, she lied. She knew very well that she wouldn't be able to remember her family, and that she, Norman and Ray would be sent to another period of time. She hid all this from her family, since she didn't want them to worry.
To her relief, her family believed her.
"WHAT?!!!"
"NO FREAKING WAY!!!"
"So all of us children can go to the human world, without exception, and alive?"
"It's impossible that there's no reward! Spill it!"
"That's what I thought too but..." Emma continued with the fake version of her story.
"For the last 1000 years, you've had everything taken from you. So those 1000 years are the price. You have entertained me in various ways, so that's enough." Emma repeated the words of His that actually were actually just lies carefully hidden in the truth.
It took her some time to fully convince her family that she was going to be ok and that she was not going to be sacrificed, but in the end, they believed her.
As all the cattle children went to the human world, Emma's family realised something
Emma, Norman and Ray were missing
Taisho Era, Japan
A certain albino and a certain ravenette found themselves on a snowy mountain.
"Where are we? Is this the human world? Where's Emma? Where are the others?" Norman asked.
"Also, what the hell is that thing?" Ray asked, pointing at a figure in the distance. That thing didn't look human at all. With pale gray skin, sharp claws and fangs, it was looking at them with a hungry look, almost as if it was going to eat them.
"Could it be... another kind of demon?" Norman stated.
*Meanwhile...*
"Hey."
"Hey."
"Little girl."
Emma heard someone calling her.
"Are you ok?"
She opened her eyes to see a man peering at her.
The man had golden yellow hair with red streaks in it. He wore some sort of brown uniform with a flame patterned coat and a katana hanging at his waist.
"What's your name?" He asked.
