In 1992, Cooper graduated from high school and made the decision to play football at Archie's Alma Mater, Ole Miss. They were all so excited for this amazing opportunity. Coop was following in dad's(Archie's) footsteps.
When dad tells the story of Cooper's medical emergency, it hits him pretty hard. We were all home in West Monroe when dad got a call from Cooper out in Oxford, Mississippi. He was talking about feeling this weird numbness in his fingers and toes. Dad immediately drove to Ole Miss and attended multiple doctors' appointments with Coop. They were sent to Minnesota to see a specialist. Peyton went with them while Eli and I stayed behind at Phil and Kay's.
In 1993, Cooper was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, ending his football career.
Doctors said that if he were to take one extreme hit, he would become paralyzed.
Cooper returned home for a while, just to figure out what he wanted to do. He soon returned to Ole Miss and finished his academic career.
