Your excitement slowly subsides and the adrenaline of the fight also wears off.

You want to thank Heisenberg, but his firm steps, which suddenly seem soft, and the strong arms, which now work a pleasant warmth as they press you against his chest, rock you to sleep like a cradle.

The voice of your reason far back in your thoughts tells you that this man is dangerous and you should not let your guard down, but as he carries you so gently in his arms, his presence seems more reassuring than frightening.

So you feel yourself slowly losing consciousness to the music of Heisenberg's footsteps and the steady heartbeat in his chest.

     ...

Movement around you wakes you from what must be the best dreamless sleep you've ever had.

Opening your eyes, bright light blinds you as you try to orient yourself.

You recognize the broad, muscular back of none other than Karl Heisenberg, who turns his attention away from you to something in the kitchen.

He turns to you and walks toward you, holding a cold pack and a bandage in his hand.

“Welcome back, dear. Did you have a restful sleep?”

You sit up from the couch where you apparently slept and look away in shame as heat spreads across your cheeks.

“Mmm. Thanks for saving me earlier, even though I didn't follow your instructions. And sorry. I didn't mean to cause you any unnecessary trouble.”

His features soften and he nods at you before turning his attention to your ankle, the pain of which you are now aware of.

Heisenberg presses the cold pack to your aching ankle, triggering a slight pulse of pain.

“Ah fuck” You hiss.

He places a warm hand on your knee and strokes your leg with his thumb in comforting motions.

“Don't put any weight on your foot for a while and next time do what I tell you. Don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.”

For a moment you think he's concerned about your well-being, but you banish that thought right back to a dark corner of your brain.

You've known each other for two days and he just doesn't want you to die because he needs you for his plan

Exactly, that's all there is to it.

...

“Can I ask you something?”

He interrupts his movement briefly and sits down next to you on the sofa, where after a short time he begins to draw circles on your thigh again.

You wonder if he's unconsciously showing this kind of affection, because he seems a little lost in thought.

“What do you want to know, dear?”

“The Lycon that attacked me and all the others I saw at the factory, what do you need them for?”

He smiles a little and claps his hand lightly on your thigh in a rhythm.

“I want to lead a revolution. For that, I need an army. I'm afraid I can't oppose Miranda myself, since I'm under her control. But with an army, I could defeat her and finally be free.”

He looks deep into your eyes, cliché as it may sound, and takes your hand in his with his free one.

“That's what I need you for, dear. With you by my side, Miranda wouldn't stand a chance. You may not understand it yet, but I wasn't a bad person before all of this.”

He's squeezing you hand as if trying to show you how serious he is.

“Miranda made me the monster I am now, and all I want is my freedom, my humanity back.”

You want to believe him, want to see that he's not just a bloodthirsty murderer, but what Chris has told you about Ethan's death alone makes it impossible for you.

He can seemingly see your doubt.

“What is it that makes you doubt my honesty, dear?”

You hesitate briefly and he squeezes your hand reassuringly as a sign to continue.

“Ethan Winters. Well not just him, but all those people you murdered.”

“I have to get rid of my anger somewhere and I need these people for my armee.”

He seems to have given up convincing you for now.

“I know I'm a monster, but I'm not going to apologize for being one when no one ever apologized for making me one. ”

He lets go of your hand, smiling sadly, and walks to his room, leaving you behind in the small living room.

“Good night, dear.”
