Walking through the front doors of my new workplace with Spencer by my side, I find it hard to keep a smile off my face. It almost seems unreal that I am able to work in the FBI, as well as being able to work alongside my best friend. We enter one of the elevators and Spencer pushes one of the buttons and we stand there in silence until he asks me a question.

"Are you exited?"

"Oh definitely," I chuckle and nod my head. "It feels amazing to be here."

"It does," he agrees. "I felt like that on my first day."

I smile to him as the elevator doors open and we walk out and towards the doors of the BAU, but before we could reach them, we were approached by a rather happy looking woman wearing  a colourful dress who I assume must be Penelope.

"Reid, Reid! Hey!" she beams before looking at me and gasping slightly. "Is this the newbie?"

"Yes she is," Spencer chuckles. "Garcia, this is Dr. Quinn Parker. Quinn, this is Penelope Garcia."

I smile and hold out my hand but I instead get a big hug from her and I chuckle.

She lets go of me before asking Spencer excitedly, "You mean the Quinn that is your roommate?"

"So Spence has talked about me?" I joke.

"He has, but not much," Garcia chuckles. "Anyways, why are we still standing out here? You need to go meet the others!"

Penelope opens the door to the BAU and I smile at her as she lets Spencer and I through. Looking around, I see most of the others gathered around one of the desks and she leads us over.

"Hey, guys! Guys!" Penelope says, making the others look up to her. "The newbie's here!"

"Hi," I say a bit nervously. "I'm Dr. Quin  Parker."

"You're pretty boy's roommate?" one of the taller ones asked. That's obviously Morgan.

I chuckle and Penelope answered for me. "I've already asked that and the answer is yes."

We spent the next couple minuets with introductions and me settling my bags at my desk that I am definitely going to have to get some decorations for before Spencer reminded me that I should probably go and talk to Agent Hotchner. I quickly agree and head to his office.

I take a quick breath before knocking on the door and opening it. I stand in the doorway as he looks up from his work.

"Ah, Dr. Parker. Please come in," he says as he puts down his pen and closes the file in front of him.

I shut the door and sit down in front of his desk.

"I was very impressed when I read your resumé. PhDs in forensic psychology and criminology by the age of 23 as well as a reference from Reid."

"Oh- uhh, thank you," I chuckle.

"I'm sure that you will do some good work here. Welcome to the team."  He holds his hand out across the table and I shake it before I stand up and leave his office with a smile.

By now, everyone had made their way to their desks and I head towards mine, which was not too far from Spencer's. I sit down and I grab my bag from underneath the desk. Even though I didn't bring many decorations for my desk since I wasn't quite sure on what I wanted yet, I did bring one thing: a framed photo of my parents and I from a few weeks before they died. I take it out of my bag and look down at it. Everything felt so great back then. I wish I had more memories of them.

I must have been staring at it for a little while because I didn't see it when Emily stood next to my desk.

"Are those your parents?" she asks me.

I look up at her and smile. "Yeah," I nod. I put the frame down on my desk and turn my chair to face her.

Emily picks up the frame to have a closer look at it. "You seem like a happy family."

"Yeah... we were," I could tell that Emily was a but puzzled by me saying 'were' and that she wanted to know more but obviously didn't want to ask, but I was willing to talk about it. "My parents died when I was 13. I was lucky enough to not be put into the system since Spencer's mother agreed to let me live with them. It's just the ten year anniversary of their deaths is coming up next month."

"Oh, I'm sorry-"

"Don't be," I cut in. "It's fine. That topic is always going to sting a bit."

Emily gives me a sympathetic smile before continuing. "Well, we should probably get to work."

I nod in agreement as I watch her make her way to her desk and start on her work. I look at the small pile of files that were placed on my desk not that long ago and I pick up the one on top. Paperwork has never been something I have hated, it can just get a bit repetitive. The file that I picked up was from an old case and some reports just needed to be finished up so I quickly read through the file to familiarise myself with it and I get to work.

The rest of the day was about the same. Just paperwork. Not very exiting but it has to be done, and since it was only my first day, I didn't have much compared to the others since they were much more familiar with the cases.

I look at my watch and I se that it is about 5:30. Since I don't have anything else to do, I decide that I should go home, so I stand up and grab my bag, ready to do. Spencer is still working, but I go over to his desk anyways.

"Hey, Spence," I start. He looks up to me and smiles. "I'm done for the day so I was going to head home so I was wondering if you were ready?"

"I still have stuff to do, sorry," he replies. This reply doesn't really surprise me - Spencer is almost never home before 8 or 9.

"Alright, I'll see you back at the apartment then."

We say goodbye to each other and I head towards the elevators. Some of the team have already gone home, while a couple were still working. I press the down button and wait for and elevator to arrive. While I wait, Emily stands next to me, also on her way out.

"Hey," she starts. "How was your first day?"

"Yeah it was good," I reply. "I think that I will love being here."

The elevator doors open and we both step inside.

"So, uhh," she says, almost reluctantly. "I went to talk to Garcia earlier, and Garcia being Garcia, she looked you up on her system since she likes knowing all about the new team members and she found the file about your parents. That must've been a lot to go through."

"It was. Watching your parents be murdered in front of you isn't exactly the most enjoyable thing," I reply with a hint of sarcasm. I sigh a little before speaking again. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't speak to you like that."

"Hey, it's fine. I understand. It must be tough not even knowing who did it. If you want, we could have a look at the files and see if we can spot anything."

"You don't have to. Spencer has looked through them hundreds of times. It was tough on him too - my parents loved him. I'm lucky that he was there for me afterwards."

"Yeah. He'll do anything for his friends."

We smile to each other as the elevator doors open and we walk out. Once, we leave the building, we say goodbye to each other and walk in opposite directions. I head home, happy that my first day had been a good one.

A/N: Sorry that this took a little while to write. Don't worry, it will get a bit more exiting in the next chapter. :)
