PROLOGUE

Putting all my bags in the car, I looked back at what once used to be my home. What once used to be filled with laughter and happiness.  Now it was empty, and broke, just like me.

"You all ready to go Lay?"

Turning around I spotted my aunt Catherine who was standing there with tears in her eyes. She is still beautiful, with long brown hair, blue eyes, tall and slim. I smiled as I looked at her; she was clearly trying to hold back the tears, to be strong for me. She was the only family I had left, her and her husband, Paul. They both suited each other, hence the fact that they are mates!

"Yea just let me give one last look inside"

Aunt Catherine smiled, a sad smile that didn't reach her eyes like they used to. Paul gave her shoulders a light squeeze and nodded to me, clearly feeling his mate's sadness. I gave them a small smile, feeling tears come to my eyes, I quickly turned away and made my way towards the house.

I never liked people seeing me cry, it felt like I was weak. As I walked in, I went to the living room. I spotted the big dent in the wall. A smile instantly came to my face as I remembered how it got there.

"Layla, get back here! You know you can't run from me!"

I smirked at that, yeah, but I can hide! Being the short height I am, means I can fit into any small places. And by small, I mean the cupboards. I quickly dashed into the cupboard under the sink and closed it quickly so he couldn't see me.

"hmm, I wonder where Layla went...."

Ha, he can't find me, see I told you I can hid-

"GOT YOU!" my dad yelled picking me and tickling me so much that I couldn't breathe.

"Ahhaahaha, dadd s-s-stopp! Okay okay I g-g-give up you ahhhaa, g-got mee!!" I panted in between breaths

"Not until you say that I am stronger than Uncle Paul!"

Wow. My dad was unbelievable, such a child sometimes, but I still loved him no matter what.

"O-o-okay! F-f-fine you win! Hahaha, you are stronger than Uncle P-P ahahaha Paul!" I yelled anything to get him to stop tickling me.

"What was that? I can't hear you!" My dad taunted.

"YOU ARE STRONGER THAN UNCLE PAUL!" I managed to yell, thankfully my dad stopped tickling me, and a wide grin sprawled across his face. Suddenly the kitchen door burst open and in came my laughing Uncle Paul.

"AHHAA, you think your daddy is stronger than me? Too cute my little niece, but you are wrong!"

"Well, looks like I'll have to prove that she is right then!" My dad said right before he launched himself onto my Uncle.

They both tackled each other and ended up in the living room, I followed them laughing so hard my stomach started hurting. They both fell into the coffee table, making the table smash against the wall. We all froze, with wide eyes as we took in the dent that came in the wall.

"OOOO, you guys are in trouble!' I teased them.

My dad got up and examined the dent on the wall, and then a grin spread across his face.

"Maybe not," he got up and took the picture frame that had all of us in it, and placed it on the coffee table, right in front the dent.

"See, your mom and aunt would never see the dent with that picture there!"

My uncle sighed a relief. Obviously glad that his mate won't be yelling at him. Aunt Catherine may me very sweet, but she has a low tolerance when my dad and uncle fights in the house. We all know that if she ever saw that dent, Uncle Paul will never hear the end of it.

My dad and I both burst out laughing and my uncle just glared at us. We both stopped, and stared at my uncle whose mouth was twitching upwards. Soon enough he started laughing and we were all rolling on the floor with laughter.

At this moment I didn't realize I had tears spilling down my face, but I didn't care. I still remember that day as if it happened yesterday.

That's why my aunt, uncle and I are moving, to get away from here, the past, and move on, start fresh. With a heavy sigh I quickly walked around the rest of the house, replaying all the memories each room has.

"Layla, come on now sweat heart, it's time to go!" aunt Catherine yelled from outside.

I looked around the house one last time, wiping my tears; I spun on my heels and made my way to the car.

Aunt Catherine and Uncle Paul were already sitting in the car, both giving me sad smiles, and glancing at the house one last time, before we made our way to the airport. I sighed, Miami Florida here I come.
