"Come on Quinn, lets do something fun!" Mila groaned as she plopped down across the table from me.
"Mila, I already told you that I have to study. I have to make sure I pass this test or else I wont be able to get into college." I told her still not looking up from the History book that was in front of me.
"Really? You are worried about passing a test?" She replied questionably
"Yes Mila, because unlike you I can't just wing it. I'm not smart enough to do that." I sighed still trying to focus on the words on the page that I have already read at least 20 times in the past hour. Still not sure what its trying to tell me or what the words even mean honestly.
"Quinn stop putting yourself down, its the only reason that you can't wing it. If you would just be confident in yourself then you would be able to pass any test without having to study for weeks on end. You are the smartest person I know Q, well except for myself of course." She finished sarcastically
"Aww yes thanks for the inspirational speech Mi, but I think i'm gonna stick to studying. I mean its a proven fact that studying has helped kids to pass more tests than when they don't study." I told her finally looking up from my book to meet her eyes.
"That's bullshit Q, its just shit that adults tell us so that we wont go out and have fun. Its their way of keeping us from living our lives. Don't let them keep us from living our best lives possible Quinn." She ended her little speech, that sounds like it could be a Pinterest post, by standing up and spinning in a little circle with her arms out. Her long blonde hair flying around her and her bright blue eyes shining with excitement. She looked so happy spinning around that I couldn't help but laugh and smile along with her.

"What are you smiling about Q?" my dad asked as he sits down across the table from me
"Nothing, just day dreaming is all." I replied with a defeated sigh as I finally broke out of my little dream. Bringing myself back to the dreadful thing that is reality, the reality that the one person that was there for me whenever I needed her was....gone.
"So, I heard from Mrs. Thompson that they are hiring down at the frozen yogurt shop in town." my mom said as she sat down at the end of the dining room table "She wanted me to ask if you would be interested in working there."
"Mom, I don't-" I started when she let out a frustrated sigh
"Quinn, why won't you just give it a chance? Who knows you might enjoy it and it would be easier on you because you know people who work there already. And most importantly you can't just sit in your room trying to figure out what happened to Mila." She said taking a bite of her salad
"If I try it will you leave me alone?" I asked starting to get frustrated at how much my mom has been bothering me about 'moving on' and 'forgetting about it.' How am I just supposed to 'move on?' She was my best friend for 16 years. I don't even recall a time that were ever not together. We were always doing shit together, most of the time doing something stupid, but just because Mila wanted to. She was always the one to come up with the crazy ideas and plans. Ones that you read about in adventure stories and see in movies. The ones that you know if the characters did what they did in the movies and books in real life that they would get in so much trouble. But that's what Mila always wanted to do, the crazy things that would get us in the most trouble. Usually I would try to talk her out of the plans but most of the time it never worked and instead she would talk me into doing the crazy shit with her.
"I will for a little bit, but you have to promise that you will actually give it a shot and not just assume that you are gonna hate it." she replied with at glare, I could tell by her dark brown eyes that she was serious.
"Alright fine, I will actually try it." I replied "I guess I will go in tomorrow and apply."
"Great, that's just great." She said with a little squeal of excitement "Do you want me to drive you up there?"
"No, I can walk, I'm capable." I said sarcastically as I stood up to put my plate of half eaten lasagna on the counter and started to head up to my room when I heard my mom whisper to my dad.
"Sometimes I wish that the cops would have found that girls body, just so Q would stop wasting her life trying to figure out what happened to her. She would finally just give up on it because then she would have proof that she is really gone."
