Shirabu never really cared about Valentine's Day. He didn't hate it in particular, but he never understood the hype around it. Suddenly no one talked about anything else than what to get their significant others or crushes and where to go on dates. The whole school changed colour from purple to pink and red, every class was decorated with sickeningly sweet garlands and hearts and surrounding shops were running short on chocolates and cards. It was a weird day.

On the other hand, he knew Semi loved Valentine's Day for some reason, and Shirabu was determined to try and enjoy the day for his beloved boyfriend. Since their little misunderstanding last month, Shirabu took care of reminding Semi that nothing has changed and he still likes him. He was still beating himself up over the fact he didn't notice how his un-touchy nature hurt Semi, even though the older reassured him many times it wasn't his fault. He still struggled a bit with returning the affection Semi gave him wherever he moved, but the other setter understood and never pushed too far, which was something Shirabu was grateful for.

In return, Shirabu wanted to do something special for him. Especially when this was Semi's last Valentine's Day in high school. The problem was, Shirabu never celebrated Valentine's Day before and therefore lacked any ideas of what was considered romantic by Valentine's Day standards. And the time was running short.

............................................

"C'mon, Taichi, help me out a bit."

The redhead looked up from his book, his face unimpressed as always.

"What do you want me to do? Give you a list? I don't know what Semi-san likes. Why are you asking me anyway?"

"Because I'd rather die than ask Tendo-san, and you are the only other on the team who is dating someone."

"What about Goshiki?"

"He doesn't count."

Shirabu was running out of options. It was two days before Valentine's day, and he couldn't think of anything special for Semi. He spent an entire morning searching up tips on the internet, but nothing felt right. Another option was to ask someone, but Taichi proved himself to be quite unhelpful in the matter, and Shirabu started to feel desperate.

"Is it that hard for you to give me some tips or something?"

"I don't know what you expect," answered Taichi without much interest and returned to his book. "Hayato and Semi-san are two different people. Even if I gave you advice, it doesn't mean it will work for you."

"But at least I'd have an idea what to do," grunted Shirabu, already regretting his life choices.

Taichi sighed, looking at Shirabu once again.

"You are thinking too much about it. He's totally whipped for you. I bet he'll be glad for anything as long as it is from you."

"That's not helpful at all."

Taichi shrugged.

"That's all I can tell you. Take whatever you want from it."

Shirabu murmured about useless friends under his breath (but loud enough for Taichi to hear) when there was a soft knocking on the door. Shirabu rolled his eyes, already knowing who the visitor was.

"Come in, Yamagata-san."

The libero's spiky hair appeared in the doorway.

"Hey, Shirabu. Is Taichi here?" he asked, seemingly in a great mood.

"Where else would I be?" called Taichi without glancing up from the page he was reading.

Yamagata skipped happily into the room, immediately throwing his hands around Taichi and giving him a quick peck on the side of his head.
