"Call one of your friends. Get someone to make them stop firing at random."
Taeyeon urges and Seungcheol glanced at her. For a moment he wants to tell her no. That he would never risk any of his brothers approaching a soldier with a gun. But for all he knows they've already done that, so he pulls his phone from his pocket and dials Wonwoo. Hopefully the most calm of the group at the moment.
"Wonwoo, I need you to do something for me."
"Seungcheol? Of course, we'll do it."
"Great. There's a tall black building with a blue sign on it. Can you see it?"
He hears some muttering and it sounds like Wonwoo splits the boys up to search for it. Seungcheol waits with baited breath, hoping that somebody hurries up. He's so apprehensive that it actually hurts. Unless he just pulled his stitches and opened the gunshot wound again, a definite possibility.
"Yeah Soonyoung found it. Now what? We're all pretty much across from it."
"You have to get the soldiers to stop shooting at anything that moves. But please don't get hurt doing it."
Seungcheol is squinting directly down his line of sight, trying to pick out his friends from the group. But at a distance it's hard to do. Until some figures break the neat line of protesters, stalking right up to the soliders. Those are his idiots.
"Okay they've stopped."
Seungcheol hangs up when he gets the confirmation, grabbing Taeyeon's arm and pulling her along. They could sprint for it, if they really wanted to. But there's a crowd of the infected and taking a few out might be a show of good faith. So Seungcheol pulls his guns and starts picking off some of the corpses. Taeyeon lights up and does the same, vanishing from his side to knock down a handful of her own.
"Cheol! Cheol!"
Seokmin spots him first and Seungcheol's gaze goes right to him, an easy smile falling onto his lips. As Seungcheol and Taeyeon approach the fence the tension is visible. The soldiers seem uncomfortable to see any survivors, and any bystanders are kept behind a line of police tape but their anger can be felt from here. They come right up to the chain link fence and Seungcheol grins as recognition floods the soldier's eyes.
He's one of the ones that stopped them at the Gwanak barricade. And now he looks both surprised and a little afraid.
"Going to turn us away again?"
The laugh falls past his lips and Cheol's fingers curl around the chain link as Taeyeon eagerly bounces on the balls of her feet. The soldier hesitates for a moment, looking like he wants to send them back into the city just like before. But he just sighs and takes a step back.
"Up Taeyeon, you first."
Seungcheol gives her a boost and the girl easily clambers up, she shifts when she reaches the top. As she goes to climb back down the other side she freezes, releasing her grip with one hand to point behind him. He can hear his brothers shouting out his name and warnings. Seungcheol whips around, eyes darting between the collection of the undead.
"Climb you idiot!"
Taeyeon shouts as he's busy shooting any of them that get too close for his liking. And when there's enough of a gap, he hurriedly scrambles up the twenty foot fence. Taeyeon is waiting at the bottom, her gaze pleading for him to be careful. Instead he jumps from the top and hears her let out a sharp gasp.
13:18: Safe.
"You are free to begin firing again gentlemen."
Seungcheol tells the soldiers with a grin, trying to act like that wasn't his dumbest idea ever and that he isn't feeling pain in his entire body. Taeyeon nearly tackled him in a hug, her words flying a mile a minute.
"God you're so stupid. I hate you. Don't ever scare me like that again. Why couldn't you climb down like a normal person? You're such an idiot."
And even though everything hurts like hell, Seungcheol lifts her up and spins her around. She's laughing and he's laughing, it's the beautiful sound of relief. When he sets her down, she smiles at him for a blissful moment. Then smacks the side of his head.
"Never do that again!"
"Fine, fine."
He rolls his eyes, wrapping his arms around her. For the first time, he lets his gaze sweep over the crowd. But his members are nowhere to be seen. Until someone slams into his side, already sobbing their heart out. Taeyeon let's out a squeal of surprise, darting behind Seungcheol.
"Chan!"
Seungcheol grabs onto the boy and squeezes him half to death as the others come racing over. Almost all of them are crying, nearly hysterical in his arms as he hugs them. And once they've all had their hugs a man approaches them.
"You're all going to need to be quarantined for a day."
None of them argue, but Jihoon points out that they're not leaving Seungcheol's side. The man, probably a health official, goes to lead them towards a decently sized white tent where people in hazmat suits are milling about. And Seungcheol let's Seungkwan grab his arm and pull him along until he hears a small, familiar shout.
Instinctively, he pulls his gun before he's even fully turned around. By the time he's taken in the scene, his gun is aimed between the eyes of the man in a hazmat suit that had a hold on Taeyeon. Her eyes are wide and sacred, and one of the boys behind Seungcheol let's out a noise much like a whimper.
"Taeyeon stays with me."
He insists and the man in the hazmat suit lets her go. She throws herself into his arms and Seungcheol debates for a moment. Then he takes both his guns and sets them on the ground, dropping the two extra mags he has left. He holds his hands up in surrender and then smiles, turning around and grabbing Taeyeon's hand.
13:26: Quarantined.
