I was about to give up, I had been searching for Lizzie since 8:50, and still hadn't found a trace of her anywhere. I wound through the crowd, looked in the bathrooms, gone outside even. Which was very much of a relief by the way. It wasn't hot and humid outside, it was a warm spring evening with a cool breeze. I went back inside and instantly regreted it. I decided if I didn't find her in half an hour, I was leaving. With or without her. I had to be home by 10, and it was already 9:15. I was cutting it close. Then I noticed something, well, more like felt. A gaze on the back of my head that sent shivers up my spine. I saw somthing through the crowd, but I'm not sure what. Then I realized, it's not something, but someone. They were very gracfully slipping through the crowd. It was a girl, she was short and slender, very petite. She stood out from the crowd for some reason, but I couldn't figure out why... She had long dirty blonde hair, and a dusting of freckles across her face. Suddenly she turned towards me and we locked eyes. Hers were piercing and deep blue. Why was this girl looking at me? Slowly, I raise a hand and point to myself. The girl gave a small, almost imperceptible nod. We both start walking into the crowd, towards each other. See it as "neutral teritory." I glanced around to see if I could spot Lizzie. Of course, she was still nowhere to be seen.

I looked back to the girl, and she had appeared right infront of me. She was really fast. "For Gods sake!' I exclaimed. "Don't do that," I said taking deep breath. "Who are yo-" I started before she cut me off. "We have already collected your... friend. If you could follow me..." She said in a finalzing tone. Was this girl ordering me around? Who was she? And what did she do with Lizzie? The girl turned and started walking away, not even waiting for me. I was stunned. I decided what to do without making the decison. My feet were carying me forward. I grabed her arm and spun her around. "Hey, yeah remmber me? I don't know, do you want to give me a name or somthing to call you or do you WANT TO TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOIN ON!?" I shouted at her, going straight to bitch mode. I was tired and I just wanted to get out of here, not to mention Lizze's sudden absence. Hoping I sounded brave as I could feel under her dark and steady gaze. I wasn't quite angry, more... really pissed. Enough to get a little adrenaline pumping through my veins. She considerd my words for a moment, but said nothing. She walked straight out of the club, with me trailing behind her desperately. Where was Lizzie! I paused for a moment trying to process what was happening. I ran after her again and stopped infront of her, blocking her path out the door. "Hey, you. Yo, hello? What do you mean you have Lizzie? Listen to me!" I screamed, frantic to do anything. I grabbed at her arm, but I was restrined by another arm that came from behind me. It wraped around my waist, constring my movment. A rough hand came across my mouth an nose with a cloth. Confused I tried to struggle, but I started to get sleepy almost instantly. My eyes flew open when I realized what it was, I weakly hit at the both of them trying to get free. Doesn't this stuff only happen in movies! And then it all went dark...

Lizzie waked in through the wide archway, she'd done this a million times before. Today was different though, she had gotten attached to her assignment, Olivia. She knew you were supposed to keep them at a distance, but Olivia was a person that had trust issues. If she wanted to get under her gaurd, she had to be "friends." For the longest time she hadn't had any friends. She had aquatinces, coworkers, but never any friends. Friends were better though. In layman's terms, if they killed Olivia she would be sad. It wasn't just because the assignment she had become friends, but because she genuinly liked Olivia, she could be natural, herself. Not diffeent or like clay waiting to be whatever she had to be (which her job often called for). She even missed Olivia a little. No clue what to do she headed to her office. It was in the top floors of a cable company building. You couldn't access the top floors with out a key card. Security was super tight. I always thought back to when I had first been recruited.

Flashback - Lizzie' s POV

I was making my way through the school to my next class. The fire alarms went off, and everybody filed out of the school. Except for a group of the "cool kids." Assuming it was a fire drill they snuck away from the group and headed to the bathroom. Presumably to smoke a joint or something. I sniffed the air, and smelled smoke. They hadn't had enough time to start smoking, had they? I hung towards the back of the group, curiosity getting the better of me. A minute passed and the smell had gotten stronger. My interest piqued, I too broke away from the group. It was only when you played attention you could hear the roaring of a fire above, and the creaking of the building struggling to stay together. It was then when I heard screaming, and a crash. I ran around the corner. A flaming beam had fallen from the ceiling. It landed on top of two people.

They were a couple, everybody knew them, they were sweet and innocent. And now there flesh burned, stinking up the whole hallway, accompanied by their screams of anguish. I ran to the nearest wall and grabbed the fire extinguisher. I began spraying them down, but it was hopeless. I stared at them, and they stared at me. I couldn't pull them out from under, and the path was blocked. My eyes filled with tears. Help they screamed, help us. But I was powerless against the raging fire, engulfing them. "I'm sorry," I said shaking my head and backing away slowly. I'm sorry, was that really something I said in a time like that? Sadly, it was. Time was running short, I ran for the bathrooms, I check the girls first. It was empty. The only thing I could think of were the seconds ticking by. I burst into the boys bathroom. Smoke was filling the room, but where was it coming from? There was a group of five of them. Cowering in the corner. I took charge. I quickly dampened my shirt front and some paper towels. I handed the paper towels to them, and pulled my shirt over my own nose and mouth, and told the other kids to follow suite. They just stood there. Another loud crash came from somewhere, and it was enough to jar them from there stupor. I drug them out of the school. Other than minor burns scrapes and bruises, we were fine. Except for one girl, I think her name was Maddie, had a broke leg from jumping out of a second floor window. I had a dislocated shoulder, and nobody else had any outstanding injuries. The next day a man in a suit came up to me and asked to meet me after school, he looked businesslike, but I didn't want to take any chances. I said I would meet him on the front steps of my school, where there were plenty of people around. He had a small smile after that. We agreed to a time, and we met. He said he was surprised and proud that I had shown bravery of leading those kids out, and that I did it with skill. He asked if I had any future plans, and I said no, I didn't yet. He asked me if I would want to be a field agent of sorts. After a week's speculation, I agreed.
