Raven woke up on July 1st, panting and leaning over her bed. Bile rose from the back of her throat, inching into her mouth. Raven sealed her lips together and shuffled to the bathroom, leaning over the toilets edge and disposing of her stomachs contents.
She kneeled in front of the toilet for a full five minutes before wiping her mouth and flushing it. Raven stood up and walked over to the sink, gazing embarrassedly into the mirror.
Her hair was damp with sweat and it clung to her neck, curling around her dazed and tired eyes. She scrubbed her face with soap and water, trying to rid of at least some of her imperfections.
Taking a deep breath and looking back into the glass, her eyes shimmered in the light cast from the window. Raven subconsciously held her face in her hands, watching the light dance across them.
She took a step back to see her full reflection in the mirror. Her body was all angles, and wide enough to lay across, though she wasn't fat by any means, she was still deemed ugly and even scary to some.
Raven self-consciously hid herself with her oversized blue cloak, rubbing the velvet cloth to her pale skin. She was always compared to Starfire, who everyone thought nothing more than perfect. Even though she and the alien were best friends, Raven couldn't help but feel jealousy towards her. Compared to the Tameranian, the empath was hideous, rude, untrustworthy, and to top it all off, unthankful.
Starfire was always in a bright mood, always acknowledging her pride and happiness towards her teammates. But Raven only hid herself away in her room, paying no attention to the others in the tower. She often thought what would happen if she left the team, and decided no one would even notice. Who could ever value a creepy goth, anyway?
She quickly massaged her temples, awakening her subconscious and walked out of the cramped room. She was glad to see no one in the hall as she floated back towards her room, closing the door behind her.
I need to meditate. Raven decided, levitating into the air and crossing her legs. As she found her center and started her aura, a thought pushed its way into Raven's mind.
July 30th.
Gasping and falling out of her mediative state violently, Raven fell to the ground with a soft thud. The memory pounded in her ears, making her jump and hold her head, feeling a migraine start.
What was so important about that date? Why that date? And who, who said it? Raven frowned, attempting to remain calm with no avail. With one last sigh and a deep breath, Raven stood up and walked out of her room.
