No one's pov:
Error took a deep breath, humans and monsters walking past him inside. Seeing how many people were here was more daunting then he had assumed it would be. He noticed multiple versions of sanses that had tried to kill him last time he saw them. He didn't notice his breathing get faster, his heart felt like it was beating out his rib cage.
He couldn't do this, it was too much too fast; too many people that hated him, too many people that wanted him dead. He took a step back, glitching getting worse with every second. His vision was disapearing behind error signs, not now, I need to see! He thought, panicking.
Then someone grabbed his hand. "Cal! Cal, breathe, it's okay." He heard Blue's voice. "I-i caN't dO THiS, I'm sORry BlUE..." Error said. "You can. I know you're scared, but it'll be okay, everyone's nervous on their first day, and then they realize that school isn't so scary. It's okay, Cal." Blue said soothingly, leading him to the side and sitting on the curb with Error, who still couldn't see.
"YOu dOn'T kNOw tHAt." Error acused. "I do." Blue insisted. "HoW cOUlD yOU pOsSIbLy knOw?" Error asked him. "Because I used to be scared too." Blue told him, "I would get so nervous about going to school, but I'd step through those doors, and at the end of the day, I was fine!
"Everything I worried about, never happened, and I actually had fun! I know that you can do the same, it's scary at first, but you'll realize you have nothing to be scared of." Blue promised. "ArE yOU sURe?" Error asked him, eyes clearing and glitching calming down. "I'm sure." He confirmed.
"Now come on, you don't want to be late to homeroom!" Blue said cheerily, leading Error through the front doors where most people had already gone.
Blue gave him a hug in front of Error's home room. "Have fun, Cal!" Blue said, leaving to find his own class. Error watched him go before he turned back to the door, took a deep breath, and walked in.
The homeroom teacher, Toriel, welcomed Error as he walked in. "Welcome, you must be Miscalculation, I'm Mrs. Dreemur!" She greeted. "yOu caN JUst CalL mE CAl." Error told her. She seemed a little surprised by his voice but she recovered quickly. "That sounds good, Cal." She told him with a warm smile.
Her friendliness unsettled him, he'd been to too many AUs where her friendliness was faked to trick children into trusting her; which is the long way of saying he had been to Horrortale one too many times. He told himself not to worry, this Toriel was acting more like classic Toriel, so she was actually just being nice to him.
Error looked around and saw some familiar faces. Papyrus, Monster Kid, Killer, Dust, Outer, and Candy were all there. Error was glad most of them hadn't been a part of the war, and two of them were his friends in his multiverse. They were all sitting at tables so Error sat at the table next to Dust and Killer, hoping to get to know these versions them better.
A few more monsters and humans walked in and Toriel stood at the front to speak. "Welcome, children! As you know, I'm Mrs. Toriel, you're homeroom teacher this year, some of you might also have me teaching you in your sewing class. To start out, we will do some introductions. So when I call on you, tell the class you're name, and your favorite color. We'll start in the front and work our way to those in the back." She said.
"What is this, kindergarten? Favorite colors, pfft!" Dust whispered to Killer who nodded and laughed in agreement. So nothing's changed with them, then. Error thought, smiling.
Pretty soon it was his turn. "HI, I'm MisCAlcUlaTIoN, but YOu cAn cALl mE CaL. mY fAVorITe cOlOr IS blUe." Error announced. Some of the kids started whispering about his voice in mocking tones, but it didn't bother him, that wasn't why he was scared of them anyways.
Next up was Dust who's favorite color was purple, and then Killer who said his favorite color was black. "Blacks not even a real color, Killer." Dust complained. "Do I look like I care, Dust?" Killer retorted. Dust rolled his eyes and Toriel scolded them.
After everyone was introduced, Toriel passed them papers to draw on until they left for their next class. Pretty soon the bell that Blue had warned Error about rang, announcing that it was time to go to the next class.
Error had history with Mr. Nightmare. He was wondering what his intimidating friend would look/act like here, was he a goopy octopus or a purple loving skeleton here? He would have to find out.
Error managed to find the right room just in time, the bell rang as he stepped through the door. "Cutting it a little close, aren't we?" Nightmare asked threateningly, Error looked and made note that he wasn't a goopy octopus here. "SoRrY, I dIDn'T kNow wHERe tO GO." Error apologized casually, finding a seat. Nightmare narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything else.
The other kids in Nightmare's class looked scared of Nightmare. It made Error want to laugh, if they were scared of this version of Nightmare he would hate to see how they would react to his Nightmare.
The class wasn't complicated, it being the first day and all, but Nightmare seemed to be trying to find any excuse he could to punish the class. Error wasn't really surprised, it seemed like something his friend would do.
Nightmare tried catching Error on a few things but Error just showed him he wasn't doing anything wrong and wasn't punished for anything. The rest of the class seemed impressed by how calm Error was around Nightmare, every other kid Nightmare accused of something seemed to panic immediately.
Soon enough, the class was over and Error headed to the gym. His gym teacher was Mr. Cross, so he wasn't worried about it.
Error walked into the gym and saw the rest of the class gathering on the edge of the stage, sitting in a row facing Cross. Error walked over and joined them. Error noticed Dust and Killer were also in this class. Once everyone got there, Cross started talking about the rules and when they had extra time, he told them how to play dodge ball so that they could do that for the rest of the time.
The game seemed like it would be fun, all Error had to do was throw some harmless balls at the other team and not get hit while he did so. Cross numbered them off and Dust and Killer ended up on Error's team. "Hey, you any good at this?" Killer asked him. "I tHInK so." Error replied. "We'll find out." Killer said as Cross counted down from three and blew his whistle, signaling the start of the game.
Error ran and grabbed a dodge ball, backing up before he got one thrown at him. Undyne was on the other team and she seemed very confident in her skills at this game. "Let's see how the new kid is!" Undyne shouted, throwing a ball as hard as she could at Error. Error ducked and it sailed over his head into the wall behind him.
Error stood back up and threw his ball at Chara, getting them out. They gave their ball to Asriel, complaining as the sat down, signifying that they were out of the game. "Good throw!" Dust cheered next to Error.
Error caught the next ball thrown at him, getting its sender out. Then he threw the ball at Monster Kid, who groaned as he got out. Undyne whipped another ball at Error but he easily side stepped, the kid behind him wasn't so fast and got out. Error threw his ball at Undyne who dodged it. "Nice dodge." Killer told Error as he got a kid out on the other team.
The game went on for a few more minutes, eventually it was just Error and Undyne left. They were both good at the game but in the end, Error won. During the game he also got a bit closer with Dust and Killer, which made him happy. Now at least he could tell Blue he made friends.
Undyne was furious about losing the game, apparently she'd never lost before. As they left to go to their next classes, Undyne passed by Error saying, "You're dead, kid." Then she sped up and walked away, catching up to Papyrus.
"You're in trouble, Cal." Dust warned. "I cAN haNDLe UNdYne." Error assured him. "I hope you're right, but fair warning, she holds grudges for ages." Dust said, Killer agreed, "I know from experience." He added. Error shugged, Undyne's threats were nothing, he knew she wasn't actually going to try and kill him so he had no reason to be scared of her.
"Welp, good luck with that, anyways, I'm headed upstairs so see you guys later!" Dust said, turning towards the staircase. Killer had a different class as well so Error was on his own for his science class.
Sci was his teacher, and Error remembered that Sci had been on Ink's side last he checked so he was a little bit nervous for this one. He can't even use magic, Error. Besides he's not even your Sci. Error told himself as he stepped into the classroom.
In Sci's class the seats were assigned, which didn't really bother Error too much although some kids seemed pretty mad about it. The tables fit the lab setting pretty well, they were different from the other classes Error had been to.
After everyone was in their seat Sci started to go over the rules. It took most of class before he was done and he gave everyone a dot to dot, which Error found pretty interesting as he'd never seen one before.
After science class, Error had lunch. He made his way down to the cafeteria and sat with Dust and Killer. They were soon joined by Horror as well. This version of Error's insane friend wore a hat that covered the missing part of his skull, and this one seemed a lot more shy.
"H-hi, I'm Horror." He greeted. "NIcE tO mEet yOU, I'M CAl." Error replied. They all started talking and got along pretty well.
Error ate the lunch Blue had packed for him, it was a taco, some vegetables, and for dessert, chocolate. There was also a note that said "have a good day!" Dust laughed about the note but Error didn't understand why.
Before they knew it, lunch was over and it was time for their next classes. It turned out Horror and Error were going to their sewing class together. Error had Mrs. Toriel as his teacher so at least it wouldn't be super awkward bumping into himself every day.
Horror sat next to Error and they waited for the rest of the class to get there. "I wonder what's taking everyone so long?" Horror wondered. Error shrugged. "Usually I'm the one that's late. Anyways, how have you been liking your classes? Seeing as your new here and all." Horror asked. "THeY'RE fINE." Error told him.
"Has anyone been... looking at you weird?" Horror asked quietly. "YeS bUT i DOn't rEALLY cARe." Error informed him. Horror looked a little surprised. "You don't care at all?" He asked. "NOpE." Error confirmed. "Huh." Horror muttered, studying Error's face as best he could with a bandage covering half of it.
Before they could continue talking, Toriel got the class's attention and started going over the rules. Afterwards she put a video on the screen for them to watch, it took her a while to figure out but she got it up.
It was a weird facts video but the whole class seemed intrigued by it. Error wasn't as interested as everyone else was but he still watched, happy to learn something new about this multiverse.
His next class was math with Mr. Geno. It turned out this Geno wasn't perpetually dying but was instead incredibly lazy, even for a Sans. He was sleeping when the class walked in and only woke up once the bell rang.
After Geno was awake he got to business, explaining what the class would learn over the year and all the basic rules they already knew about. After he finished he told everyone to read their books and stay in class until the bell rang.
Geno caught one kid trying to sneak out early and punished him with staying in the room late. "The only reason you're not getting detention is because it's the first day and I'm going to let it slide." Geno said. The bell rang and the class left, Geno seemed to fall asleep two seconds after.
Error had music class with Dream next, tomorrow at the same time he would have art with Ink, he wasn't looking forward to that. He wasn't super excited about having a class with any one of the star sanses but he couldn't do anything about it.
Error took a deep breath and walked into the music room. Dream was at the front, playing a song on piano, and the rest of the class was sitting down around the room in a semicircle. There were instruments around the room but Dream seemed to be keeping the kids away from those for now.
Error noticed that Killer, Dust, and Horror were all in this class with him, so he sat next to them, grateful for their company. At least he wouldn't have to face Dream and Ink on his own every day.
Once the last kid sat down and Dream had taken attendance, he started explaining the rules. After that he said they had enough time for everyone to try out at least one of the instruments. Error sat down at a harp, he was good at string instruments. Dust sat at a drum, Killer found a maraca, and Horror got a xylophone.
Dream let them all try playing the instruments and walked around the room to help the kids who were struggling with it. Error played a simple song that one of the Chara's had taught him years ago, he didn't do anything too complicated so that he wouldn't draw anyone's attention.
The rest of the class hurt his nonexistent ears. Only a few of the other kids seemed to have even played an instrument in their life. Dream walked up to Error. "Great job, Cal! Have you played a harp before?" He asked him. Error nodded. "I could tell! Keep it up!" He said cheerfully and went to the next kid who was probably going to break her drum.
It wasn't much longer before the class ended and Error had language arts with Classic Sans, who was just called Sans in this multiverse. Sans explained the rules pretty quickly and lead the class to get books at the library since they needed something to read in his class.
Error picked a book called Harry Potter, Horror recommended it and said it was about humans with magic. Horror seemed surprised that Error had never heard of it before so he guessed it was popular. Error thought it might be interesting so he took it. At least Blue told him how libraries worked already so nothing was too confusing about it for Error.
After everyone had a book, Sans lead the class back to the classroom. Then all they had to do was read until the bell rang, then the first day of school would be over.
Ten minutes later, the bell rang and school was over for the day. All the kids seemed excited to go home, except for Horror, who seemed nervous. Error couldn't figure out what Horror was scared of, but he probably had a reason for it from what Error knew about Horrortale.
"SeE yOU tOMorROW, HOrRor." Error said to his friend. "Yeah, see you tomorrow, Cal." Horror said. Then they split up to get to their lockers. There was a note that was clearly from Undyne in Error's locker that said, "watch your back punk!" Error ripped it up and watched the peices fall to the ground, getting trampled by passing students. Then Error finished packing up his backpack and went to find Blue.
Blue's pov:
I finished wiping off the last table in my room, I was finally done for today! All my classes looked like they were going to be amazing this year, although there were plenty of trouble makers in them. Other than that, they would all be great, I was sure of it!
Now I just had to wait for Cal to arrive so we could go home. As I thought of it, the black skeleton walked into the room. Speak of the devil... I thought.
"Hi, Cal! How was your first day of school?" I asked him. "GoOd, i MaDE sOMe frIeNDs." Cal replied. "Oh, good! Who are your friends?" I inquired. "HoRROr, dUSt, aND kIlLEr." He told me. I felt my excitement lessen a little, those three were known for trouble, especially Dust. But if Cal was happy around them, why should I stop him?
"Thats good, were all your classes okay? No one gave you weird looks, did they?" I asked. "MY cLaSseS wERe fINE, bUt pEOplE DId sTaRe aT Me. I REalLy dON'T cArE tHOuGh, BLuE, iT's fINe." Cal told me. I was mad people had stared him.
"It's still rude of them to stare at you, they didn't say anything about it, did they?" I questioned. "NO." He assured me. I nodded. "Okay then. Well, if you're ready, let's go home." He nodded and so I lead the way to the car and we drove back to our apartment.
Here you have Error's first day of school! He handled it surprisingly well I'd say. I hope you guys enjoyed, have a great week! (3022 words!)
