Ellie didn't want to go back to Hogwarts that year.
Her and her brother were having the time of there lives at home during the summer. They went on vacation, celebrated Ellie's twelfth birthday, and even Nicole flew to London to stay a couple of days. The thought of school crossed her mind only a week before it was time to leave, and unlike most, it was like Ellie had completely forgot about what happened at Hogwarts.-
To Ellie, the day to return to Diagon Alley was just like any other day.
She woke up.
Ate breakfeast.
And traveled by Floo Powder to get there. Just like last year."Ellie Isabelle Collins!" Ellie's mom yelled from the kitchen, into the dinning room. "Do you expect your father to remember your supply list?!"
Ellie rolled her eyes, huffed, grabbed her list off of her night stand, and returned to the living room fire place where they traveled by Floo Powder.-
"Well if it ain't Ellie Collins." A big, broad, scruffy man walked right up to Ellie giving her a pat on the back, almost making her fall to her face. "Hogwarts celebrity."
Ellie's parents chuckled, shaking his big scruffy hand.
"Margo," Their father dropped a sack of galleons in his hand. "Take your sister to Flourish and Blotts, get the books she needs. Hurry!"On the way to Flourish and Blotts, Seamus and Nicole caught up and tagged along. They were by no means the only ones making their way to the bookshop. As they approached, they saw to their surprise a large crowd jostling outside the doors, trying to get in. The reason for this was proclaimed by a large banner stretched across the upper window.
Glideroy Lockhart
Will be signing copies of his autobiography
Magical Me
Today 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm"Who's this hot shot?" Ellie raised an eyebrow at the crowd.
"Professor Lockhart." Margo stood unamused by the masses of people trying to get inside.
"Professor?" Nicole question.
"Ye, heard he's ta be the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts." Seamus remarked.
The crowd seemed to be made up mostly of witches in the older age category. But the four managed to squeeze inside. A long line wound right to the back of the shop, where Gilderoy Lockhart was signing his books. They each grabbed a copy of The Standard Book of Spells Grade 2 and sneaked up the line to where Margo had been waiting.
As they got closer, Professor Lockhart came slowly into view, seated at a table surrounded by large pictures of him himself.
A short, irritable looking man was dancing around taking photos with a large black camera that emitted puffs of smoke with every flash.
Professor Lockhart looked up into the front of the crowd. He saw Margo- and then he saw Ellie. He stared. Then he leapt to his feet.
"Is it really?" Lockhart put his pen down on his desk. "Ellie Collins..."
Ellie couldn't move. The crowd parted, whispering to each other; Lockhart dove foward and seized Ellie's arm, pulling her to the front. The crowd burst into applause. Ellie's face burned as her face bumped into Professor Lockhart's sturdy chest, nearly knocking him down. Her face was ignited.
She stood straighter looking into the big blue eyes of Professor Lockhart, who was looking down at her with a big white, perfect smile.
"Nice big, beautiful smile Ellie," said Lockhart. "Together we will take the front page."
The crowd clapped and Ellie found herself being presented with the entire works of Gilderoy Lockhart. Ellie staggered away to her brother, in which she shoved them into his chest forcefully, with a look of disgust.
She started to walk away through the crowd. "What a ridiculous wizard..." Ellie rolled her eyes and crossed her arms.
"Well he's your Professor, missy." Margo looked at Ellie blankly before she began again.
"He's self centered and -"
"I agree..." Spat a peculiar voice. She twisted her head around sharply and found herself starring face to face with Malfoy. "It's spreading... Your famous title." He snarled.
"Watch yer'self Malfoy." Seamus spoke up.
"I see, Collins, you have yourself a boyfriend." Malfoy looked disgusted at Ellie as she blushed furiously. "A pure blood like you settling for less." He tilted his chin to the side. "I guess I -"
"Draco." Mr. Malfoy stood snarling at Draco the same way he had been at Ellie, placing his hand on Draco's shoulder. Mr. Malfoy looked over at Margo, then at Ellie.
"Well well, Margo and Elizabeth Collins, the pleasure is mine." he stuck his white gloves hand out to them, both Margo and Ellie taking the gesture. "Elizabeth Collins..." He said slowly and eerily, Ellie nearly shivered at his lingering voice. Ellie glanced at Malfoy, who was standing by his father with a blank face.
"The famous..." Mr. Malfoy paused. "Elizabeth Collins. Draco has told me a lot about you, and how..." He paused again leaning in a bit closer. "...the sorting hat was wrong."
"I-I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean, Mr. Malfoy." Ellie flushed pink.
"Oh I'm sure you do..." Mr. Malfoy straightened up more. Draco smirked. "You're a Slytherin I'm sure, and I'm sure Draco would agree." Mr. Malfoy gave the same chilling smirk.
"Now hold on a second Lucius," Margo pushed Ellie behind him, glaring at Mr. Malfoy. "The sorting hat-"
"The sorting hat..." Mr. Malfoy interrupted. "Was wrong. Miss Collins is most definitely a Slytherin." He turned to walk away before making one last suggestion. "Miss Collins... I am here to help you on the path to greatness. Unlike your half blood friends here, I suggest having a serious house switch." Mr. Malfoy paused yet again, this time more dramatically. "Come on Draco..."
"See you at school..." Malfoy left, with no more words after that.
