For a moment there was silence. Silence filled her brain.
Then there was white, the white of an old mans beard.
Dumbledore.
Ellie felt the soft velvet of a chair in Dumbledore's office. It rubbed against her cheeks, as soft as Fawkes's wings."I see you have rustled yourself awake Miss Collins." Dumbledore's wide bright smile stretched across his face.
He took the diary that had still been clutched in her hand and peered down at its ink covered pages.
"The diary..." Ellie mumbled, half awake. "Riddle wrote in it..."
"Brilliant." Dumbledore adjusted his glasses slightly on his nose. "Of corse he was probably the most brilliant student I've ever seen."
Dumbledore sat back down at his clean desk and placed his hands over top of each other. "I'm afraid we will have to keep your secret between us." He remarked in a more serious tone. "Being the Heir of Slytherin has it's ups." Dumbledore tilted his head. "As it has it's downs. I do not think the students here will digest this well."There was a scurry of feet making their way into Dumbledore's office.
"Oh yes," Dumbledore looked up. "Lucius."
Ellie sat up straighter, her body aching as she did. She looked over her shoulder to see the big broad Lucius Malfoy, behind him standing his only son.
"Headmaster." Lucius walked foward, Draco in toe.
"Miss Collins," Dumbledore stood. "I recall that you have already met Mr.Malfoy. He has also, promised to keep your secret from getting out." Ellie gripped the arms of her chair tighter. "As has Mr. Draco."
They know?... Ellie flushed pink from anger. She didn't trust Lucius, and definitely wouldn't trust him with a secret like this, especially his son.
"Ah, Collins." Lucius turned to stand in front of Ellie, who was still immobile in her chair, sore. His lengthy fingers grabbed her wrist in a tight grip. His fingers were ice cold. "You have made quite the improvement, hasn't she Draco?..." Lucius turned to Draco, who did absolutely nothing. Ellie glared. "I would say you're future as the Heir has proven to be grand."
Ellie tightened her wrist muscles, ready to jerk her hand from his grasp.
"Headmaster," Lucius dropped her wrist, turning to Dumbledore. "I shall see you when the time comes, but for now... I will be off."
Lucius left without any words after that. His black cloak dragging the ground as he rounded the corner, leaving the castle."I would say he is quite the unpredictable character." Dumbledore chuckled. "He won't bother you much Miss Collins. I'm afraid he's only interested in your potential."
"I would say so as well." Ellie said leaning back into her chair.
