where I'm from

I am from sugar and flour, from the Springboard textbooks cluttering my desk and hockey gear that sits in a corner

I am from the lavender smell that lingers through my home.

I am from the redwood that towers over our tiny house and the lemon tree that gathers all the honey bees.

I am from the Christmas tree that shimmers in the moonlight and the giants that live around me

I am from the single shoe that lost its match and the work lying around the house.

From the fairy's that live in our Luscious garden and the kisses from the sun

I am from the people who cared for me when I couldn't.

I'm from the crisp California air, and the lemony eggs benedict, and the savory egg rolls.

From the Chaos of rushing to find the hiding kittens as I am late, the Curiousness that rushed me to the hospital,

and taking care of my younger sisters after school

I am from the people who taught me everything

I am from the scrapbooks that know my life

I am from the people who believe in me

My family
