Chapter 1 – Awakenings

It was dusk. Piggy yawned. He was perched in a tree, thinking about his life and fortune. He had just left his family's mansion and was clueless about how he would go on. Piggy listened as the wind whispered in his ears. Just then, a swirl of light caught his attention. He jumped to his feet, unaware that there was only a frail layer of pine underneath his footing. His slipped and fell face first to the muddy floor. The ground heaved as his figure made contact with it, and Piggy was almost sent flying! Luckily, he caught himself before the catastrophe. He grumbled, and groggily climbed back up the pine tree. He sighed happily like he won the marathon when he reached the top, and gratefully lay himself down. The tree shook, as a faint brightness passed, and brushed the leaves. Piggy stared, and looked at the small light, but only for a second. "What do you want from me?", he grumbled, turning his head to the side. The light did not reply, but Piggy swore to himself he heard it whisper. He turned his glance back to the light, and his marron coat made a crackling sound as he did. He blinked at the light, and opened his mouth slightly, revealing his teeth, in a downward move. Piggy then slowly reached his hoof out, and, to his surprise, the light moved closer towards him. Piggy's hoof got closer to the creature, and he could feel its warmth. Piggy smiled at the sudden touch, and he felt amazing as if it were his birthday. So soon that it stopped. The creature pulled away, but it kept its eyes firmly on Piggy. It seemed to know something Piggy would never know. He frowned, but not disapprovingly. He really didn't know if he was supposed to touch it, anyway. He lay back down and turned to face the now rising moon. The light of it was similar to the one the creature shone, because this one was a mid-day blue. Tears welt up in his eyes, but he wiped them away. And with that he turned to face the creature.
