Blair (part:1)

Blair was a boy who lived in any other world besides his own. Ever since he was a little boy, he had been given the ability to "jump" between worlds seemingly at will. But, despite being born with such an incredible power, he wasn't able to use it properly until a very "specific incident" (that he'd rather not talk about right now) triggered his ability for the first time.

Even though we might think otherwise, there are many other worlds out there besides our own. Unfortunately (or fortunately he could be certain of which) he's only been able to enter one of these worlds once. All the others...he's made himself. Each one is centered around a certain idea or fits a certain purpose; for example, Eden (based off of a bible he had found lying in the hallway) was meant to be a world of peace. A better earth to put it simply without the existence of a forbidden fruit and tempting serpent. It was a place where all people coexisted with each other and lived in harmony with nature. It was always a nice change compared to his own world. There's others too, about 12 or so in total. But, it would probably take too long explaining the "in's and out's" of every single one.

All of his worlds were relatively peaceful. After all no matter how different they are, each one was built by him as a means of escape the cruel reality of his own world. He usually didn't stand out much but, when people did notice him...it was never good. He wasn't a big fan of getting hurt so like any sensible person, he preferred spending as little time as possible in the "default realm" more commonly known as Earth. He'd only come back to check on his cat (Lucy was a street cat but, she was nice) and hear about the latest problem(s) earth had gotten it's self into. Just more deaths/politics/and as usual the destruction of earth's wildlife for human gain, like any other day. How boooring~

Well if that's all, He'd better get back. Sometimes he wished he could bring his cat along with him but, he wasn't sure it was safe and he wasn't stupid enough to try it out just yet.

Spending too much time away from the harsh reality of our world had dulled his defenses, it was his fault for having so much faith in his ability to seemingly fade into the background. That's why he wasn't expecting a hand reaching out of the bleak scenery to forcefully grab hold of his wrist before everything went black.

---

He woke up to a white ceiling with his head pounding. Oh great, a headache, just what he needed. His "gift" required a lot concentration and he didn't want to risk using it right now, guess he won't be heading out anytime soon.

He gingerly picked himself up from the bed, holding a hand to his throbbing head. Gaze shifting around the room...

He took note of the room around him.

1.) The rest of the room was just as white as the ceiling

2.) It was greatly lacking in furniture, except for a small drawer and the bed he'd been sleeping on.

3.) There were two possible exits; one big door and two small windows.

Wait scratch that, one possible exit, the windows was covered with iron bars. Kinda like a prison...He wondered if the door on the other side of the room was locked? He shrugged, might as well check. His headache seemed to have lessened a bit making it easier for him to concentrate. Well good to know he has a backup plan.

Before opening the door he placed side of his head next to the door with his hands cupping his ears to hear better. On the other side of the door he heard multiple foot steps walking down what he presumed was a hallway.

Ready to bolt at the first sight of danger, he opened the door.

---

Crowds of children around his age walked through the crowded white hallways, pushing and shoving each other, chattering around themselves the whole way. Where they were going? He didn't know but, it was probably better to follow along then just stay here. As much as he would love to jump into one of his portals and get out of this place just for a bit, he felt as though he should first know where he'd come back to. His power could only provide a gateway, it couldn't teleport him from place to place.

Quietly he closed the door behind him before entering the herd of children. None of them seemed to notice him or maybe they just didn't care, either way was good. As he continued to walk through the hallway, he listened to the conversations going on around him. Maybe he'd be able to learn more about this place through them. While listening intently...

He took note of the current situation he was in.

1.) Instead of being a prison like he had originally thought, this building was actually something much worse...a school.

2.) This place was a containment facility for others like him. He's found this out by the various discussions on "whose's power is strongest?" and semi-dangerous displays of their abilities.

3.) The students here were tested on and observed for the rest of their lives at this "school" for the unique and unusual.

Many of the other children complained about these test but, didn't seem that scared. More like they were talking about getting a flu shot instead of literally being cut open and looked at in some cases. Though most of the people here seemed to have powers that physical manifested themselves unlike his.

Like the boys in front of him, the tallest one had a "somatic ability" meaning that his power allowed him to strengthen certain parts of his body at will. Meanwhile, the blond next to him had the ability to "self-replicate" as in: make copies of himself. He wasn't sure about the third boy, the shortest with bright red hair. But, he felt uneasy around this boy, he gave off a dangerous aura.

If he was going to be staying here for a while, probably best to stay away from this group while he's here. Especially him.

"You're new here, aren't you?"
The red-head's smooth voice cut through his thoughts with such ease it surprised even him. This boy had noticed him. He NOTICED him.

Shocked, he quickly snapped his head up, attention completely on the other boy, staring directly at him. The red-head's dark brown eyes pierced thorough his own deep blue. This boy was definitely talking to him, no mistake. Swallowing down his nervousness he answered back in a neutral tone, face completely devoid of any emotion.

"Yes."

The boy waited for a bit as if expecting him to say more, well he shouldn't expect much; Blair wasn't a very talkative person. "Mhm...is that so?" It was then that the boy's companions decided to join into the conversation (if it could be called that.)

The shorter was the first on to talk,"Ohh! You're new! Aren't you? Aren't you! Where ya' from? I'm Jaime by the way! Nice to meet you!"
This boy was definitely a talker, Blair didn't have a lot of experience with these type of people but, Jamie didn't seem too bad. Annoying? Yes. But, he seemed to have good intentions.

The other boy, the taller one, remained quite. But the silence was less unsettling and awkward then the red head's. The taller boy walked closer to him. Though a bit fearful, (since the other boy easily towered over him) Blair continued to blankly stare up at him.

"..."

The other boy did the same, though he had to look down instead of up.

He gave Blair a lazy smile before introducing himself,"I'm...Alex..."

Well glad that that's finally over. Might as well introduce himself as well,"Blair."

Jamie (tired of all the silence) quickly jumped into the conversation,"That's a nice name, Blair! Well now that we've all introduce ourselves how about we--" Jamie was about to continue,
before the red-head intervened.

Was it just him or did the room suddenly get colder?

"I have yet to introduce myself, Jamie." He then turned to face Blair, who still managed to keep up a solid pokerface unlike poor poor Jamie.

"I'm known as Red. Therefor you may address me as such," His voice spoke of was cold very cold almost threatening.

With a slight almost unnoticeable smirk he continued,"I must say, I'm fairly interested in you. Why don't you join us for lunch today. You want to know more about this place place, right?"

As much as he didn't want to admit it, the red-haired boy was right. Swallowing up whatever pride he had left, he accepted the other boy's offer.
