Sophie Foster cursed as she felt the first few raindrops on her head.
She had known it was going to rain, and had placed her umbrella in a place she wouldn't forget it the night before...
But being severely sleep deprived in the morning caused her to rush out the door without a second thought.
Putting her bag over her head, she frantically started searching for cover. That was when she spotted the cafe.
She hurried towards it and stepped inside, only to come to the quick realization that everyone in the park had the same idea. All the seats were taken except for one near the counter. She sighed as she made her way to the opposite end of the room.
"Hi! Can I get you anything today?" The guy from behind the counter flashed Sophie a smile.
Under the assumption that she knew where the conversation was headed, she rolled her eyes and replied,
"Yeah, I'll have a dark roast, whatever the biggest size you have is."
"Ah. A person of culture, I see," he disappeared behind the counter with a wink.
After returning with her drink and bill in, he looked like he wanted to ask her something- only for someone in the back to call out to him. He shot her an apologetic look and left.Sophie shook her head and pulled out her laptop.
"Excuse me, like, I'm sorry to disturb you but-"
Sophie slammed her laptop shut, "I have a boyfriend."
"Yeah okay. You came in here because of the rain, right?" The mystery barista inquired.
"Yes?"
"But you have an umbrella?" (What was he on-)
Sophie blinked.
"I don't?"
"Uh. You put it on the counter when you entered..."
Her eyes darted over to what he was pointing at.
Her umbrella.
She stared in confusion.
The mystery barista laughed, "I'm Keefe, by the way."
"Sophie..."
"Well, Sophie it was lovely meeting you, but you seem pretty busy at the moment. See you later!"
AN- Hi! This is my first fanfic ever, and I was really excited about uploading it so I didn't proofread or anything...
