"Marisa? Are you almost ready?" I asked
"How is it that I managed to get out of work and get ready within a hour and you're still not ready." I say from her bedroom bed.
"Sel's shut up, I'm almost ready."
She replies only causing me to roll my eyes and get on to my phone. I began to read "Heart Shaped Box" by Joe Hill
"So you never told me what happened with your new english boo" She says popping her head out of the bathroom door as she was curling her hair.
"Boo? you're kidding. Andrew..."
"Good, so you know who i'm are talking about. He's hot but a total hot head. Totally giving me " she says.
"Yeah he was pretty rude..maybe he was having a bad day." I say quietly defending him.
His eyes just captivated my soul, I wonder if he was a transfer and if he wasn't how he was able to even get transferred into my english class. I wondered to myself.
"Sel's? Ready?" Risa's voice rang through my ears snapping out of my thoughts.
I gave her a quick smile "Lets go."
We had grown up in a small down that was 30 minutes away from Arizona State University and it's awfully close to downtown phoenix which is where all the partying happens.
Barnyard or Cobra were the two bars that were always packed with ASU students.
Barnyard was personally my favorite, easily. They make the best margaritas ever, they double shot the drink which is why I always write a great Yelp review. I wouldn't consider myself a light weight but let's just say five is my limit.
We usually go to the football games and join our friends right after but since I sadly had to work after class we just headed over to BY. From the looks of it, it wasn't crazy packed yet. There was a dance floor inside and the boys always go crazy which made it so much fun to watch.
College was a lot different from high school. I felt like I definitely got to experience a lot of myself and be libating, you get to chose with what you want in life.
Of course, I can't speak for everyone. As much as I want to successfully earn my bachelors of art, it's just a degree.
A degree to show my Bulgarian mother that all her struggles weren't for nothing. That her only born daughter will carry out her name.
I hand Robert my ID and he gives me a big smile and says "You are the brightest star here Sel's" which makes me bat my eyelashes at him "You are the cutest Rob's!" I say. Which makes Risa roll her eyes."You are such a flirt."
I swing my arm over her shoulder "You love it!" As I screamed over the music.
We walked over to the bar and took a seat. "Shots!" She yells towards me, I simply just nod.
Damn was I not trying to do shots off the bat. We like playing this game, where we have one rule... don't make a face after taking Don Julio Tequila shots. Which really comes in handy, making us look hard when it comes to taking shots with the guys.
"Hey chickas!" Ricky says. "That means 'little chick'"
I can't help but giggle, he's so dumb. "Hey Ricky."
"Ricky! Spanish in college is the worst why would you take it knowing no spanish at all." Risa says.
"I'm just trying to flirt with the ladies." He says getting closer to me ready to give me a kiss.
"In your dreams amor." as I push his chest away laughing.
Our bartender puts our shots close to us and it's game time. We both look at eachother with a plain expression and take the shot in one swing. It was so cold and smooth, I didn't even feel it.
