JEFFERSON RAN WITH THE REST OF THE BOYS, RUNNING AS THE BOX CAME TO A STOP. They waited a second, opening it up. "Go, get him." One of the boys told Gally.
Gally jumped down and into the cage, grabbing a hold of the Greenie's shirt. "Day ine, Greenie. Rise and shine." Gally pulled the boy out from the box, tossing him onto the ground.
The boy crawled back, the rest of the Gladers surrounding him. Jefferson rolled his eyes at some of his friends. When the new boy stood up, pushing the other boys to side as he ran passed them.
"We got a runner!" One of the boys yelled.
Then the Greenie tripped, tumbling to the ground and falling as he rolled onto the grass. He stopped, laying on his stomach as he looked up.
Jefferson rolled his eyes as they continued to clap and yell.

The Greenie had been thrown into their version of a holding cell. Which they had used bamboo sticks, and various vines to tighten the hold.
Jefferson had been waiting for Minho, always waiting until the other returned. So, he had joined Newt in chopping down some trees and vines. Jefferson glanced back at the walls.
"He'll be fine. Stop your worrying. You know what he'll say if I tell him?" Newt teased.
"Have I ever told you that you are evil?" Jefferson asked.
"Only everyday since you got here," Newt replied.
Jefferson hummed, then looking back and seeing that Alby was showing Thomas around. "Hey, look," he gestured to the two. "Let's go say hi."
The two jogged up to the others.
"Greenie, this is Newt, he's in charge when I'm not around." Alby introduced.
"It's a good thing you're always around then," Newt replies, shaking the new boy's hand. "Listen, That was some dash you made earlier. For a second there, I thought you had the chops to be a runner...till you face-planted."
Alby laughed, then gesturing to Jefferson. "This is Jefferson. I'd never leave him charge."
"Because he'd burn the entire place down," Newt jokingly elbowed Jefferson.
