Desire, love and faith brought us together.
They say love fades as time passes by but for me, it grew stronger.
Every new year, I wished for him.
Four summers went by and he was still with me, breathing the same air.
The same sky encircled us and the moon told me about him every night.
No matter how distant we were, we were in the same space.
I got promotions and started earning enough, and this time it was enough for us.
With that amount of money, we would have no dilemma living a comfortable life.

The phone rang again but this time the story would be different, the phone won't ring again and I will not wait anymore.

"Hi?"

"Hey, Dan"

"Can't believe you'll be 23 next week!" He sounded just the same.
His voice had matured a bit but he always remained the same Dan, the Dan I was in love with.

"Dan"

"Yes?"

"I want to tell you something"

"Yeah go on"

"Has the flower bloomed?"

"Nope, but it's showing signs and it's pretty huge"

"Don't worry I'll take care of it from the day after"

"Wha-what!?"
It was shocking news for both of us, actually.
I couldn't believe that I was going to meet him again and this time I would not tolerate anybody trying to apart us.

"That's right, Dan! I'm coming back.
I swear on every star that I'll take you away from that place and show you want happiness really is"

Nobody uttered a word for a minute.
All I could hear was his heavy breath lightly stroking my ears and my own heartbeat racing in my chest.

"Thank you" he spoke and I knew his complexion held a soft smile, the smile that I yearned to see.

"So... how are your studies going?"

"Mhm, fine. It's hard though"

"Yeah I've heard that higher-level studies are hard but it's you, so I know you can pass it with a good score"

"You feed too much to my ego!" He groaned and I laughed.

"I kept my promise, I'm alive" he added, his voice held a monotonous tone.

"Now I'll keep my promise," I proclaimed.

"Bye, Noah, see you soon"

"Bye, Dan"

With this, the call ended perpetually.
I would meet him in two days and I will tell him how I feel.
It was okay if he didn't feel the same or if he disliked me.
I would still support him no matter what.
I will never stop loving him despite the answer he'll bestow.
I wasn't scared of whats and hows anymore and I knew the stars had finally aligned.

The night thrived colder and I had my big coat on.
I glanced a last look at the city that made everything possible for me.
I hugged my father and begged him to come back to us as quickly as he could, to which he agreed.
I brought an elegant small diamond necklace for my mother and a diamond ring for my proposal.

The gust of wind lightly brushed my raven hair as I stared at the tremendous grey sky with diamonds shining around the big globe of glimmer.

'I'm going back home' I whispered for just the moon to hear and with this,
I said my final goodbyes to the lively city and my father.
