Hermione woke up alone the next morning. She had only worried for a moment. She sat up and Ransom was in the kitchen making breakfast.
She climbed out of bed, still naked from last night. Her tiny feet made no noise on cold floor. She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his abdomen.
She kisses the center of his back before laying her head on it. "Good morning." She whispered. He put down the spatula he was using to turn over the eggs on the stove.
He turned around and picked her up, she wrapped her legs around his waist as he kissed her. "Good morning." He smiled and brushed a piece of hair out of her face kissing her again.
"Breakfast smells good." He lets her down and her hands run across his chest, now well aware of what was underneath. "I don't know if I'm interested in breakfast anymore, you should have gotten dressed before coming over here."
Her eyes fall to her naked body and she starts to blush. He lifts her chin and kisses her passionately. "Go get dressed so we can eat breakfast before work."
"Okay. Where'd you get this?" She asked nodding towards his clean clothes. "I drove home early, grabbed some clothes and showered."
He wore a grey/blue long sleeve shirt with black pants. The shirt denied his muscles extremely well. In the months of them not talking he had grown his facial hair out.
She loved it. It tickled her when they kissed but it was soft. She liked running her fingers over his chiseled jaw with the dark hair perfectly covering his skin.
"Maybe you should keep some clothes over here. So when you spend the night unexpectedly, you don't have to drive back to your house in the morning to change."
He cocked his head, he was still distracted by her gorgeous nude body splayed in front of him. "I would love that, but I thought we were taking things slow."
"We are, but a few pairs of clothes won't hurt, Right?" He smiles and moves a piece of hair that had fallen over her shoulder that was covering her chest.
"Okay. I'll bring some tomorrow. Now go get dressed, before I can't continue myself and have to take you back to bed." She giggles as she walks into her close.
A few moments later she came out wearing a knit grey form fitting sweater dress with a deep v front. The length was just long enough to cover her ass.
They ate breakfast and went to work. Sharing several more deep passionate kisses before heading downstairs. Hermione had nothing left to write for her book.
The publishing date was three months away, everything else had already been done except a press event and the book signings for after it's to be published.
So she was working around the store with Ransom.
A man came in later that day while Hermione was at the register. He picked out one of her books and came to the front to buy it. He kept looking back at her. Checking her out.
Ransom noticed as he was restocking a shelf. The man was tall with an average build. His hair a light brown color. Eyes just as dark. Ransom thought to himself that Hermione would see right through this man, there was nothing special about him.
He came to the front and Hermione, being polite, smiled at him, he returned her smile with a disgustingly flirtatious smirk. "Hi, how are you today?" Something she asked all the costumers.
"I'm good, great now actually. How about you doll?" She cringed at the name and Ransom could feel a heat rising in him. She was obviously uncomfortable and he didn't like that.
"I'm fine. Is this all?" She scanned the book and put it in a bag for him. "Actually, do you think I could get your number as well?" Her smile faded. Ransom could tell how anxious she was.
"I-I'm sorry. I don't know you..." She stutters out. Ransom has worked his way closer to her. Trying to keep his distance but right there if she needed him.
"You could get to know me. Starting with our names, I'm Jace, and you're Hermione. You're one of my favorite authors. I hear you're in the midst of writing a new novel?"
"Uhm, I've finished actually. It'll be published in three months." His smile grows as she unintentionally gives him the attention he wanted.
"What's it about?" She smiled, Jace had thought she was smiling because of him, but she was smiling because awe book was about Ransom. "It's about uhm," She laughs to herself, thinking of Ransom, "It's hard to explain."
"Well, I can't wait to read it." She nods and continues to smile, her eyes meet Ransoms and she bites her lip. "Even though you don't know me, would you like to go out to dinner, and get to know me?"
"I-uhm I have a boyfriend." Ransom beams when he hears her call him her boyfriend. "He doesn't have to know." Jace says. Ransom moved into view and put his arm around Hermione.
"Everything alright babe?" He acts casual, as if he didn't just hear the entire conversation. "Yea, fine, I was just telling Jace about you." She smiles innocently at Jace, she knew Ransom had heard everything.
"You're Ransom Drysdale. How are you out of prison?" Hermione's jaw dropped in shock. "And how did you manipulate this gorgeous woman to date you?"
"Honestly, Jace, that's none of your business." Ransom remains calm, despite how angry he is. "Well, doll, here's my number if you change your mind."
He winks at her as he writes hit number on his receipt she handed him earlier and sets it on the table. Ransom takes the paper and makes a point to crumble it up and throw it away.
"Jace, you've made your purchase, you have your book, now I have to ask you to leave." He nods and walks out. Ransom lets go of Hermione and walks away.
"Ransom?" Hermione runs after him and catches him in between stacks of books, shelves on either side of them. She grabs his arm and pull his to face her.
"What's wrong?" She keeps hold on his arm as he's facing her. "Nothing, that guy got under my skin. Are you alright?" She smiles and kisses his cheek.
"I'm fine. Don't worry about what he said." Ransoms head dropped and Hermione's hand stroked the side of his cheek. "He's right Hermione, I don't deserve you. I don't even know why you're with me."
"Ransom, we've been over this. I want to be with you. I waited two months for you to realize that I was good for you and I want to be with you, don't give up on me right as we're getting started."
"Okay. As long as you don't give up on me, okay?" She smiles and hugs him, tight. "I won't. I promise." She holds his face infant of hers and smiles.
He kisses her, they get lost between the books, kissing gently, slowly, passionately. It was everything he needed to calm him down.
