It's a warm day in the middle of the summer when Diego Montes finally figures out what he wants to write about. He's watching his boyfriend Eric run around in the backyard chasing their new beagle puppy, Peanut Butter. Eric's laughter fills the whole backyard and Diego's heart as he stares at them playing. Ever since he met Eric life just became so much better, so much brighter. Eric brought the color into his life and he has always been aware of that. When they first started dating, he spent many sleepless nights worrying about when Eric would leave and everything would go back to shades of gray. Years later, it has become clear that thankfully that won't happen. Eric is there to stay.

"What are you staring at?" Eric wonders as he stops and picks up PB and looks at Diego curiously.

"Just seeing how much PB already looks like his father."

"You calling me a bitch?" Eric says and raises an eyebrow. "Cause I'll put you in the doghouse with PB."

"Oh please, you haven't spent a night apart from me since we unofficially moved in together."

"Ok fair but I can still make you clean the bathroom." Eric says and laughs at Diego's frown.

"You know the deal. I do dishes always, you do toilets."

"Yeah, yeah. But really what you staring at? My butt?" Eric says and spins while PB lets out a high pitched bark. They both start laughing as Eric sets down PB who runs over to Diego and Eric walks up to him and bends down to kiss Diego in his seat.

"I was just thinking I know what I want to write about."

"Oh?" Eric asks excitedly and he sits down at their little table on the deck. "Do tell." Eric has always been supportive of Diego and it's one of the things Diego has never taken for granted. He sees Eric get as excited as him about stuff he loves. He's known that Diego has wanted to write a book for years but was never sure what to say. He could never bring himself to write because he felt so incompetent and like his words didn't matter. What was the point of writing when he had nothing good to share? Up until now.

"You. Me. Us. All of this." Diego replies gesturing to their home and he almost expects Eric to scoff and object. But Eric grins and tears fill his eyes. Which makes Diego's eyes tear up because of course he's going to cry every time he sees his boyfriend cry.

"Us?" Eric's voice quietly asks and cracks.

"Is that okay?" Diego asks and Eric wipes his tears away and laughs.

"You've spent years telling me you won't write a book until you find something worth sharing. I'm so honored you think our relationship is worth sharing."

"I do think it is important and worth sharing because I can't even tell you how much you've done for me. You saved me." Diego whispers and Eric shakes his head.

"No, I didn't. You saved yourself. You took yourself out of a toxic situation and made your life into a positive space for yourself. All I did was love you. All I'll ever do is love you." Eric notes and then they both start crying before PB barks and starts peeing while standing up and getting it all over Eric's shoe.
