Prologue

Hey there, readers! I'll bet some of you probably know where this story is going, based on the title (especially you fellow Zelda fans out there). I can tell you right now, you probably do, but then again you probably don't. I'll bet you expect to see Link in this story too? Well, you won't, I can tell you that much. Nope, instead we will be seeing a different 'Hero of Time' take the stage in a classic adventure that I'm sure most of you will know. Of course, there will be a few changes to what you know about the game, but hey: this is a fan-fiction, so screw common knowledge, I write--well, type--what I want!  So, enough of the out-of-character banter, and lets get this story started, shall we?

"Well, that 's enough Zelda for tonight," I said after turning off my Gamecube console, setting the controller next to it. It was nearly 4 AM, and I had just finished up the Water Temple on Ocarina of Time; it was time to call it quits for the night. "I'll go to the well and get the Eye of Truth tomorrow." The Water Temple was actually one of my least favorite dungeons and usually took me the longest to complete. I had insisted on staying up until it was finished, though. Dragging out the battle against Dark Link didn't help any either, but it was so gosh darn fun to battle him! Needless to say he was my favorite mid-boss of the entire game. But enough about that, it was time for sleep, and I was already tired from spending an all nighter reading some chapters of Fairy Tail from the night before.

Without any further delay, I slipped on a pair of pink pajama shorts with it's matching shirt, clicked on the ceiling fan, shut off the lights, and got all snuggled up in bed with my Were-Sonic plushie. "Man, playing Zelda is so much fun, but I wonder what it'd be like to actually be in one. It would be pretty awesome, if you ask me." One last yawn, and I closed my eyes, going over the next (mini) dungeon: Bottom of the Well, in my head while I waited for sleep. (Usually I wait a while, but my lack of sleep from the fore-night made it hardly a wait at all.)

"Huh? What's goin' on here...?" I was standing in a field, along with a 'random' blue fairy. and it was storming pretty badly. I wondered why I was standing outside in the rain without so much as an umbrella or even coat of some kind. I checked my surroundings, but couldn't see too clearly since it was so dark, except for the occasional lightning strike in the distance. Just ahead of me was some kind of wooden drawbridge. There was an ensignia just above it, carved in the stone. It depicted a large triangle, made from 3 smaller golden triangles that was  surrounded half way with some sort of wreath. "What a weird symbol." Before I could dwell on it too much, the drawbridge began to lower, and I could hear a horse's gallop from behind it. Judging from the volume, it wasn't to far away, and it was heading in my direction. I squinted to see through the darkness what was coming--though it was obviously a horse, as I just mentioned; As a flash of lightning went off, I was able to see a white horse zoom by me with an older female and a younger male rider on its back.

The younger male rider looked like more than your average every day person. They wore a kind of white and blue clothing that seemed pretty high class. He was looking back, as if to look at me and warn me of something, with a worried expression on his face. I wondered why he would look like that, but before I could come up with any guesses as to why, I felt someone looming behind me. Whoever they were had an ominous presence, causing my curiosity to spark and turn to see who or what it was. My jaw nearly dropped at the dark skinned man riding atop a black horse. He wore a black suit of armor, that made me think of the darkest abyss I could possibly imagine, having no end. His red hair, made me imagine the deadliest fire, that consumed everything and could never be quenched. His eyes were yellow, both bright, but dark at the same time. They matched the yellow jewel-like orb that was on his forehead. Whoever he was, I could tell he was no good.

At the sight of me, his black steed had reared back suddenly, causing its master to avert his gaze from the direction the white horse had just taken off in. I would rather he kept looking off into the distance, but unfortunately I had become the new full focus of his attention. He looked at me, with those yellow eyes, an evil smile forming across his lips before he raised a hand toward me. The only thought I had was to get out of there, but I couldn't move. It was as if I was glued to the spot. Then everything went white...

"Hello, Mara! Wake up! The Great Deku Tree wants to talk to you! Mara, get up!"

Mnn... Go away...! I wanna sleep some more... Just 5 more minutes... I twitched and rolled over slightly.

"Geeze, c'mon! Get up! Man, can Hyrule's destiny REALLY rest in the hands of such a lazy girl?!"

I wanted to sleep, but this room intruder was getting on my nerves. I threw the cover off myself and sat up. "Ah, for Christ's sake, what the hell?! I'm trying to sleep here! And who're you calling lazy 'ey?!" I looked around, but I didn't see anyone in the room. Wait a minute, this wasn't my room. It was too small, and wooden, and all my stuff was gone. "What the--! Where the heck is th--" Before I could finish, a small blue orb with wings was floating near my face. "Well, it's about freaking time you got up, you lazy girl! I'm Navi. Navi the fairy!" I stared at the floating orb--er, fairy, as she called herself. I assumed she was female by the sound of her voice and the name she had just given.

"The Great Deku Tree asked me to be your partner from now on. I'd say its a pleasure to meet you, but it isn't really... But anyways, the Great Deku Tree has summoned you, so lets get going right now! I'll lead the way to the--" Before she could finish her sentence I interjected. "Wait, you're Navi? THE Navi? As in, the Legend of Zelda Navi? Wait, I can't believe this... What's going on and--? WHERE AM I?!" She seemed annoyed and if I could see her through all the light she emitted, I'd say she was crossing her arms and cocking an eyebrow at me. "What are YOU talking about? Were in the Kokiri Forest, silly! Are you a mental retard or something? I figured you'd have lived here long enough to know where you--HEY! Where are you going with out me!?" I had pretty much ignored everything Navi had said after she mentioned 'Kokiri Forest' I was already out of 'my bed' and through the thin curtain that was supposed to be my door. "Oh my goddess...!" My jaw nearly dropped when I saw where I was. I was in the Kokiri Forest, just like in the Ocarina of Time game. Only now, it was real. Having completely forgotten about her, I was startled and nearly fell of my raised 'porch' when Navi flew in front of me.

"Um, hello?!?! Earth to Mara? Aren't you forgetting something? THE GREAT DEKU TREE NEEDS TO SEE YOU NOW!" I grimaced at her, pushed her aside before responding with a lazy "yeah yeah..." I looked over the porch/balcony just in time to see a green haired boy wearing a green er...tunic...running up toward my house. "Oh look, if it isn't Senai," I heard Navi mumble.

"Yo, Mara! What's up?!"
