She was beautiful, glowing, like an inner happiness was shining out from under her skin. She hummed lightly as she brushed her hair. Eugene couldn't help but smile lightly at the song, it was one that they'd danced to at their wedding. Rapunzel stilled hummed as she brushed her hair, it was a habit that she'd never grown out of even though her hair was now so short it only took a few minutes. As the years had gone by the song she hummed had changed. He used to catch her humming her healing incantation, now the song would vary based on her mood. This one was one of his favorites, this was a happy song, this was a song that was about their love, and the magical things their love was creating. She stopped humming as she saw him watching her through the glass of her mirror.

"I've been thinking names again." She said with a bright smile. "How about April? I love April, it's not too hot, you get lovely little showers. Oh, wait how about just Spring? or Summer? Oh even Autunm? Or wait, I can't forget Winter, Winter can be beautiful, and you snuggle up nice in front of the fire."

"Hey." Eugene got up and walked over to his wife, wrapping his arms around her waist, hand resting lightly on the slight swell of her stomach.

"There's only one thing we have to call her, or him, right now. Ours."

"Aww Eugene." She laid her head on his shoulder. "I can't wait, it's like a whole new life is getting ready to begin."

She let out a little gasp, her hand reaching to her stomach.

"Rapunzel? Are you okay?"

"Yeah.. yeah.."

"Is the little guy kicking?" Eugene asked excitedly.

"No, he's been quiet for a few days. I think it's just like a bit of pain from my stomach stretching or something."

Eugene shrugged, growing was a good thing, especially as they were to make the official announcement just as soon as tonight's diplomatic feast was over. A beautiful glowing plump Princess would be the delight of the whole city, and he couldn't wait to share their excitement with everybody.

Varian pulled at his collar again, he hated formal wear, in fact he hated everything about diplomatic dinners. It was the downside of being Corona's scientific adviser, he got an almost unlimited budget to experiment, but he had to make an appearance at seemingly endless functions. Yes, okay, sometimes his ego got a little stroked by somebody who'd heard of his work, which was happening more as time went on, but for the most part their eyes started to go a little blank when he started to answer their questions.

"Hey, science boy!"

"Not a boy Eugene." Varian said turning around with a scowl, just as Eugene wrapped an arm around his shoulder.

"You're all dressed up."

"So are you." Varian pointed out. "Why are you so happy? You hate these dinners almost as much as I do."

"Well, I have good reason to be happy, the sun is shining, we're holding a big ball, the cooks making my favorite kinds of cakes."

"You know I'm trying to work out if you're more smug now or when you first married Rapunzel."

"Oh, definitely when first married." Eugene said with a wink that Varian tried to ignore the meaning behind.

"Though you know now... you're almost insufferable."

"Well..." He stopped himself in the middle of talking, then he turned to Varian seriously.

"I need to tell you something."
