Chapter 3

Before long, it was time for the new year's ceremony. Rieka continued helping Navier through her piles of work, thankfully neither women needed to meet with the emperor for the past few days.  Although that changed when the 3 needed to welcome the different guests.

One guest in particular had interested the raven haired princess.
"Make way for Prince Heinley from the Western Kingdom! "

The announcer yells as the carriage door opened and out walked a man, with a fit and slender build, tousled champagne colored hair framing his face with a few stray bangs, all that paired with bright magenta eyes.

He slowly approached the 3 royalty, his attention mostly on the blonde empress dressed in red.

As Navier prepared to introduce herself, the blonde prince kneeled down on one knee and extended his hand for her. Cautiously giving her hand to his, Heinley brought it close to his lips and placed a small kiss on top.

"It is an honor to meet you, my Queen"

The prince and empress had a small conversation before he greeted the 2 siblings.

During the evening Rieka was sat on her chair beside the fireplace of her room when her ladies-in-waiting informed her that a certain prince was looking for her.

Getting up she went and let him in. Heinley shut the door and sat down in front of his friend.
"So what brings you here at this time of the night?" Rieka asks while pouring them some tea.

Heinley held up the letter he was holding with a smirk as he gave it to her.
"Someone wanted me to give this to you, any guess on who?"

The princess blushed as she put down her cup and took the letter. Carefully opening the envelope to read the contents.

'To my Princess,

It has been quite awhile
Since we've last seen each other. Do you still remember my proposal? If so, then I hope to hear your answer in your reply to this letter.

I have also attached a necklace to this letter. I aim to see you wearing it once we meet again, quite soon.

The princess wondered what necklace he was talking about until the blonde gave her a small black box tied with a green ribbon. Opening it she saw it contained the necklace with a small star pendant hanging off it.

"I'll send McKenna here tomorrow" Heinley says knowing the princess needed time to process and think of a reply.

"Thank you..." Rieka says before looking back up at her friend.

Heinley nods before feathers fluttered around the room as he transformed into Queen. He held a small note on his beak and extended his leg, telling her to tie it around him.

Rieka chuckles before doing as he asked.
"I'll leave your clothes by the window so you can take it back if I'm already asleep"
The bird chirped as it flew away, it's long golden wings quite visible in the moonlit sky.

During the first day of the New Year's Ceremony, the emperor and empress always make an entrance together.
