There was no celebration after the ceremony. Hisashi and the rest of the Hyuga clan gave their farewells and walked off to their living compound. The Uchiha clan also went along with their day and headed back home. All of Hinata's friends wanted to congratulate her and wish her a happy marriage, but somehow that felt forbidden. They knew it wasn't right. So, as much as they didnt want to, they acknowledged the circumstances, and walked away as well.

It was like the village had thought of their marriage as a sacrifice. They felt bad for them instead of joyous and celebratory. They wished for them to at least get along rather than wishing them a happy marriage. It was known to everyone that the Uchiha-Hyuga marriage was one of convenience, and no one dared spit their opinion on the matter. Not even the elders wanted to say something, but as the representatives of the village they were obliged to.

"I hope this brings the families closer than ever."

"You surely will mark history."

They were not words of happiness or even sincerity. They were meaningless words meant to make them feel better about their destiny.

Hinata nor Sasuke minded being wedded. They had no particular interest in disliking each other, but they knew it was bound to be awkward. They hoped their friends and family didn't make it such a big deal, but they understood the importance of their binding. Eventually, they would have children of their own, and those children would mark a new age. Powerful. Those kids would be powerful.

"Hinata-sama, let me show you to our home." Sasuke took her hand gently and pulled her along with him into the Uchiha compound.

"We are married now, no need for such formalities." Hinata pleaded shyly.

Sasuke nodded a bit embarrassed. It was like he forgot they were now married.

Nothing held them back form agreeing to the wedding suggestion. Naruto and Sakura were now married and deeply in love. Sakuras' and Hinatas' feelings for Sasuke and Naruto had diminished to nothing a long, long time ago. Both Sasuke and Hinata were not dating or crushing. They were just there. Although both knew one day they would be paired, they never spoke on it. Even to their best of friends.

It was like fate. Hinata had been disregarded as the Hyuga Leader; that position had been given to her younger sister, Hanabi. The Uchihas tried to force leadership onto Itachi, but he claimed to be too busy with ANBU missions and declined the duty. Naturally the next in line was Sasuke and he took the position knowing it would make his brother happy. He didn't mind, and enjoyed it most of the time. Now, having married Sasuke, Hinata did not only belong to the main family, but her husband was the Head of the clan. Was it haunting her, or was it a form of apology? Something like: Sorry! Here's the next best thing!

The house was for themselves only. Of course for future family as well. Hinata had been there often, back when they would meet and arrange the marriage. She took a liking to the house then. Generously accepting the home as her own.

"Do...do you want to sleep separately? You know I don't mind." Sasuke suggested.

Hinata took her time to reply. If they slept in the same room, the same bed, it either meant they were very comfortable or that it meant absolutely nothing to the both.

"I-I think together would be better. That way we can get used to each other." Hinata replied while slipping her shoes off.

Sasuke was a bit surprised. He expected her to detest the idea of sharing a room.

"Okay. We can do that." He tried to smile politely.

They walked upstairs to the master bedroom. It was completely renovated and colored differently from when Sasuke's parents inhabited it.
