"Nigga you just left me hanging the other night. You could've called," Maine said as we sat across from each other on my mama's porch.

He was still tripping on the fact that I didn't come through for him when he needed help at the trap.

"My bad man. I was supposed to but Kim wasn't going for that."

"I love Kim, that's my sister, but you know money has to be made."

Shrugging, I leaned back before thinking about my response. I wanted to keep it real with him, but I knew he was stubborn when it came down to quitting the drug game.

"And that's my wife and I have to respect what she says. Plus, I agree with her. I shouldn't be helping you out with that, especially considering the fact that I left that sh*t alone 3 years ago. It's dangerous, and you know that. I have a family to protect, and so do you."

"I respect what both of y'all have to say. If you wanna stay away from that, then I have no problem. But as for me, I'm good where I'm at. A nigga been in this game for too long and it's what I'm use to. I'm able to buy my girl, and our daughter whatever they want. They protected bruh."

This was his problem. He was too focused on the material things that he could do for them. In reality, he was doing more harm than good. I had nothing else to say, the nigga was gone do what he wanted to do. I just hoped that it wouldn't come back to bite him.

"Oh hey Jermaine, I didn't even know you were here," Denise said, walking outside, holding my niece Egypt's hand.

"Wassup Denise," he said before standing up to hug both her and Egypt.

"Where you on the way to? You going meet that lil nigga huh?" I said.

"See now you doing too much by being in my business. Mind yours," she said with a lil attitude.

She had a new boyfriend, and I was happy for her. I liked the nigga because he actually was treating her well. They had been together for a year, and he already had her doing better for herself. She moved out of my mom's house and got one of her own. She's the happiest I've ever seen her.
