DEBO
I sat on the bench in the cell, looking at all the dried up blood on my hands and under my finger nails. My leg shook nervously hoping and preying Ashaia was okay. I hate the fact that the last time we spoke, we were arguing.
All I could think about was HER! The thought of her body just laying there unconscious and bloody kept replying in my mind and giving me continuous chills.

Right now I didn't even care that I was in jail and could be facing life...

Yes, I killed him... and Have NO regrets. But those other battery and rape charges are bullshit and they know it.

Suddenly I'm being led to an interrogation room.

"Why are you doing this?!", I shouted in frustration at the detective.

"It was self defense, he attacked me when I got there and I killed him, it's that simple!", I said getting even louder.

"And NO I didn't hit Ashaia not once nor did I rape her.. I would never! that's bullshit and you know it!!!" I said damn near screaming at him.

"Calm down son, I believe you. You will be assigned a court date soon.", he said walking out while my lawyer came in.

I explained every little detail to her.

Fuck I don't have time for this shit I needa see if she is okay.

Nari
I sat at her bed side, as I sniffed with each tear. I looked at my best friend in disbelief that this even happened to her.

I gently grabbed her hand and prayed

"She's still beautiful, even with all the bruises and bandages . Huh?", her mother said standing in the doorway with a shaky voice.

I smiled at her.

" Jesus I knew something was wrong when I heard her crying. If only I would've stayed with her and-",she rambled on until I cut her off

" this is definitely NOT your fault there was no way you could have known.", I said sincerely walking up to her and hugging her tight as she balled into tears

"I just hope she's okay.", she said in between tears.

3 months later
Debo
"Young nigga fresh out!", I said walking smoothly over to Chris, Nari, and my auntie. They met me just outside of the local juvenile hall.

That fucking case took for ever but you know a nigga pleaded not guilty! Yessir! I'm hella greatful

Can't wait to go see Ashaia. She's still in the hospital, it turns out she has a minor concussion, broken bones, and there's a possibility she won't be able to have kids in the future.. shit is tragic.

I heard she's awake but she's learning how to walk again and now suffering from PTSD.

"We missed you so much Debo.", Nari said as they all took turns hugging me.

"Yea. yea. Come on I'm ready to go see Ashaia", I said in a split second fast walking to my Auntie's car. They laughed as we got in.

As we get closer and closer to the hospital, I start to get more and more nervous.

I got out the car slowly walking to the hospital entrance feeling my hands get sweaty.

I mean of course I'm nervous I haven't spoken to her in many months. And I still love her more than ever.

"What's wrong? I thought you was ready.." Nari said smirking and taking the lead.

I shook her off and manned up

As I stood in the doorway of her room, I saw her.

She looked beautiful than ever, even with the casts and machines hooked up to her. She was still laying there deep in thought unaware that  I was standing there. She had a slight look of fear on her face.

"Ahmm", I cleared my throat startling her.

Her eyes got big and she quickly looked over at me. I heard her heart monitor speed up.

"Oh no it's just me.", I said in a soft voice smiling at her.

Her eyes instantly lit up and she looked really happy.

"Debo.", she said quietly in a raspy voice.

I walked up to her and hugged her gently.  She decided too hug me back but she squeezed me two times tighter.

"How are you doing? Are you feeling okay?", I asked looking in her eyes.

"I'm just glad you're here I missed you so much", she said in the same raspy voice as she let tears slowly fall down her eyes.

A nurse walked in ruining the moment

"Great news! You're okay to leave. I just ran a few tests. But make sure you make a follow up appointment at your local doctors office or come back here to get a check up for those broken bones. Your parents already signed the discharge forms.", she said nicely while walking out.

Ashaia got up grabbing her crutches, and struggling to grab her change of clothes.

" Here let me help" I said while handing her her clothes and helping her sit back down.

"I'll give you some privacy, but I'll go get your mom or Nari to help you get your clothes on." I said walking out. She nodded her head.

I told Nari about Ashaia needing help and she quickly left to go help her out.
Ashaia's mom was talking to the doctor.

"- bed rest is probably a good idea for a faster healing process. Make sure she doesn't get the cast wet, and keep her off that knee. Also make sure she's taking good care of those stitches. And SINCE she does have some symptoms of PTSD, I can refer a therapist.", he continued going down the list

She looked overwhelmed by all this.

"I can help out I promise we'll get through this." I said reassuring her and rubbing her back.

I'm just glad she's okay.. she's all I could think of these past three months.
