"Oh my god, Mom" you dove off the couch and headed towards your mom who stood in the doorway with wide eyes. "I-I didn't think you-you'd be back so early" you stumbled over your words as your heart continued to hammer against your chest.
"It-It started raining, so-so we left..." her eyes remained wide as she looked you up and down. "I-I'd sort your-yourself out before-before your father comes in" she turned on her heel and shook her head as she left the room. You nibbled on your lip as you glanced back at Demi who was staring down at her hands. You fastened the button on your shorts and combed your fingers through your hair, trying to tame it.
"I-I'm gonna go" Demi stumbled as she pushed herself up from the couch. You couldn't do anything but nod. You didn't want her to leave but you couldn't find the words to ask her to stay. You followed Demi to the front door which was pushed open by your dad who flashed you a smile before his eyes landed on Demi.
"Hi Demi. I didn't realise you'd be here."
"I-I just came over to see if Y/N was okay, she said you were going away for the weekend" Demi smiled up at your dad. "I'm gonna get going now but it was nice to see you, Mr Y/L/N" her eyes briefly met yours before she slid out the front door. Your dad turned to meet your gaze as the front door closed behind Demi.
"It's nice to have Demi back, huh?" you swallowed over the lump in your throat and nodded.
"I'll go and sort through our laundry" the sound of your mom's voice made you jump. She grabbed the suitcase from your dad, gave you a look and then headed towards the stairs. Your dad pressed a gentle kiss to your cheek before he headed into the living room. You glanced between the living room and the stairs before you sighed, running your fingers through your hair as you followed your mom upstairs. You nibbled on your lip as you stood in the doorway to the laundry room where your mom was sorting through the clothes in the suitcase.
"So..." the sound of her voice made you jump once again. "Your-Your fooling around with your best friends sister?" she very briefly glanced up to meet your gaze. In her gaze you could see her disappointment.
"I-I..."
"I'm assuming Madison doesn't know about this?" you shook your head as you glanced down at the floor, continuing to nibble on your lip as you twiddled with your fingers. Your stomach was full of butterflies. "Are you planning to tell her about it?"
"Yes, I-We just..."
"Are you just fooling around or is-is it something more?" you felt your cheeks beginning to heat up as your mom's lips twitched into a smirk. Before you came out as bisexual, the thing worrying you the most was how your parents would react, but they surprised you by being 100% supportive. You suddenly felt like you could be yourself from then on, you didn't need to hide.
"I-I don't really know. I like her, a-a lot but we-we haven't made it official or-or..."
"And she likes you too?" you shrugged your shoulders.
"I-I think so. I hope so anyway."
"Well, I'm happy for you" a smile spread across your face as you glanced to meet your mom's gaze as she stepped up to you, her hand settling on your arm. "But I'd tell Madison before she finds out for herself. Don't carry on the lie, Honey. You could really hurt her" she cupped your face in her hands and then leant to peck your cheek. "Now, help me with this laundry."
-
"She's cool with it. Well, as cool as a parent can be, I suppose, but she keeps saying that we need to tell Mads."
"We do need to tell Maddie, Y/N" you glanced down as you played with the loose thread on your blanket. "As much as I like the idea of having you be my dirty little secret..." you bit down on your lips as they twitched into a smile and your cheeks burnt. "I want to be able to show you off. I want to walk down the sidewalk and hold hands with you. I want to take you out on dates. I want to be with you" Demi's words were melting your heart but you still couldn't ignore how terrified you were that Madison wouldn't react positively. She can't possibly be okay with this.
"But what if she isn't okay with this? What if she says we can never be together?"
"We'll cross that bridge when and if it happens."
"I-I don't-I don't want to lose you, Demi" your cheeks burnt at your confession.
"I don't want to lose you either, Y/N" your lips spread into a wide smile. It made you happy to know that she felt the same way. "But maybe if we keep this from her, the consequences may be worse. It may be best if we tell her now and give her time to get used to it" you sighed as you relaxed back against the pillows on your bed. "I don't want her to find out about us by walking in on us like your mom did. I kind of want to be honest with her."
"Okay, when-when do you want to tell her?"
"Come over tonight and we can tell her then" the butterflies in your tummy began to make you nauseous. "I don't think we should keep it a secret any longer."
"And if-if by some miracle she's okay with it, will-will you go to prom with me?"
"You're not giving me much time to buy a dress, Baby" your heart fluttered at the term of endearment. "But I'd love to go to prom with you" you suddenly started to feel giddy. "Come over for 6. I'm sure my parent's won't mind you staying for dinner. We can tell Maddie afterwards."
"I'll see you then."
"Bye Baby" you hung up after speaking your farewells and you released a breath. You prayed for Madison to be supportive as you got yourself dressed to head over to Demi's.
