"ugh, but i don't want too!" i complain. "come on, Liv! you're the best player!" Connie begs. i reach my arms up for her to come help me up and she skates over to me. she holds her hand out and i grab it, her pulling me off the ice. we had found a random pond that was frozen, and we decided to skate and have a game on it, since we didn't have a rink of our own. i didn't want to get up, i was tired and lazy. "besides me, of corse." Charlie skates to me and Connie, stopping quickly and spraying some ice on us. Connie rolls her eyes and i push him, making him fall to his butt on the frozen ice with a grunt. me and Connie burst out laughing, along with the others.

we're making fun of Goldberg because he kept complaining about getting hit by pucks, when he's literally the goalie. when a fancy, shiny, black limo drives over the ice. me and Averman share confused glances as a man with slicked-back hair and an all black suit steps out of the vehicle. we all gather in a group and stare at him and the car. "yo dude, you obliviously in da wrong hood! this is my dominion. a drug-free zone, you understand? we ain't buying nothing! i'm feeling generous today, so i'll let you off with a warning. imma let you get your sorry vanilla bootie out of here before we be usin' your eyeballs as hockey pucks!" Jesse sasses and we all laugh. "thanks, bro, but i'm not going home until i take care of business." the man replies. he opens his suit and sticks his hand inside. we all back up, afraid he's going to pull out a gun and shoot all of us.

but, he pulls out a small piece of paper that's folded into a square. "District Five Pee Wee hockey team. i'm Gordon Bombay. i'm the new coach." the man tells. all of us look at each other, not buying it. "very funny!" Connie laughs. "yeah, right!" Jesse chuckles. "i'm afraid so, dude." 'Gordon' mocks our language. "i've got the roster right here." he unfolds the paper, "Averman, Lester. Conway, Charlie. Conway, Olivia. Hall, Terry. Hall, Jesse." he says some of our names and we look at each other in shock. "geez, he really is the coach!" Guy mumbles. "now here's the long and the short of it. i hate hockey and i don't like kids." Bombay states. "what's this supposed to be, a pep talk?" Peter asks with sarcasm. "look, i'm sure this'll be a real bonding experience. maybe one day, one of you will even right a book about it in jail." Bombay jokes yet with a straight face. "haha, funny." Averman says sarcastically.

"is there a goalie?" 'coach' asks. "only for a little while, i'm movin' back to Philly." Goldberg explains. "thank you for the information." Gordon thanks, and i can't tell if it's for real or sarcasm. "alright, get out on the ice. let me see what you can do." Bombay demands. everyone starts skating out on the ice again, "fyi, we really suck." i give a heads up to coach. "hey, i'll be the judge of that." he replies as i skate away. i watch them as they land on each other, trying to get the puck.

"the Pete-meister! Mr. Rabble-rouser! passing the puck over to Jesse-ronnie, the enforcer!" Averman plays around while watching us play. Guy falls and Charlie accidentally trips over him. "ouch! that hurt!" Averman continues. as Connie skates up to him, "oh, it's the Connie-meister-" Averman starts but gets cut off by the brunette pushing him over as she skates by. "the velvet hammer." Averman finishes his taunting while laying on the ice like a starfish.

Connie and coach have a small conversation before me and the others skate up to them, "so what do we do now, coach?" Jesse asks, changing the tone in his voice at 'coach'. "what did your old coach have you do?"

"he just yelled a lot. that's how he hurt his arm." Karp explains. Bombay looks at him with a questioning look. "yeah, he's yelling at us, you little bastards, where'd you learn to play?! oh, you suck, you! skate you little-" Peter cuts himself off with a gasp and holding his heart dramatically. "heart attack. great." Bombay realizes with sarcasm. he sighs, "alright, look. i've gotta make a phone call, keep scrimmaging. you, you, you, and you, against you four." coach demands, pointing for me, Charlie, Averman and Terry against Connie, Jesse, Guy, and Peter. "uh, we got names, ya' know." Charlie pitches in. "and i'm sure you do. and i'm sure they're very nice names. i MIGHT even learn 'em! for now, i'll be in my office. oh, and if you need anything, fax me." Bombay chuckles at his own joke and steps inside the car.

"sheesh, what a jerk." Karp mutters along with the other teammates complaining about him. me and Connie share worried and sorrow glances before both of our faces light up at an idea. "on three." she demands. "one...two...three!"

"GO ON A RIDE IN HIS CAR!!" Connie yells.

"KILL HIM!!" i yell at the same time and Connie looks at me with confusion and a low key scared look. "oh. yeah, yours sounds better. plus, we won't go to juvy, and be known as the youngest killers on earth." i figure. "yeah. i think people would be a little surprised if they found out a group of twelve year olds killed a grown man." Connie agrees. "guys! come here!" i yell at the guys. we gather in a circle and Connie shares our plan.

and before i know it, we're ontop of the car, some on windows, Karp and Goldberg even putting their mouths on it and sticking their tongue out. i go by the door and see if it's unlocked. it is, so i open it and get in the car, followed by the rest of the team. i'm squished in between Averman and Terry, Peter up front with the driver, eating all his candy, and Jesse had taken Bombay's phone and started talking into the receiver, not caring who it was or what they were doing.

"we wanna ride! we wanna ride!" Connie starts chanting. we follow along, "we wanna ride! we wanna ride!" "i could kill one of 'em just to set an example, sir!" the driver yells at Bombay. "not yet, Lewis. take 'em for a spin! anything!" Bombay replies and the car starts to move. the chanting turns into cheers of joy as the wheels drive carefully on the frozen water. "i feel like Madonna!" Connie states. "you wish!" Terry teases her. "seats eleven comfortably." Averman states, joking because we're clearly all squashed between each other, but we don't care. Jesse picks up some fancy cups and me and Connie tell him to pass us one, and he does. Peter apparently made 'Lewis' mad because he grabs his shirt and growls in his face.

suddenly, we all sniff a ratchet smell. "Goldberg!" we all exclaim in sync. "it wasn't me!" he tries to defend himself. "young man, what did you eat?!" coach asks the boy. "open a window!" Guy demands, holding his nose along with me and Connie. "oh, man! it's my mom!" Charlie exclaims, looking out the window. my head snaps to his direction, and where his eyes are and we see our mother, clearly angered, running to the car that's on the ice. "she looks pissed!" i add as coach pushes me and Charlie onto the floor so she doesn't see us, but it's no use. "oh, man!" Connie complains. mom comes and opens the door, "alright, out! everybody out of the car, right now!" she demands at my team, seeing me and my brother crouched down on the floor.

as all the kids load out of the vehicle me and Charlie see mom lecturing coach.

"are you out of your mind?! what were you thinking putting that car on the ice?! my twins were in that car!!" mom rants as me and Charlie share worried glances. "lady, lady, relax." coach tries to stop her. "one crack on the ice! that's all it would take! one crack!" she continues. "calm down-"

"who the hell do you think you are?!" mom asks coach. "i'm Gordon Bombay, the new hockey coach." he introduces himself. "the new coach?! they send you over here to coach the team, and you endanger their lives." mom says sarcastically. "what danger? look, i grew up on the ice, i know when it's safe to drive on." coach explains.

"is that so?"

"yes."

"and how do you know?"

"i just know, alright!"

she huffs. "Olivia, Charlie, come on. we're going home." "sorry our mom had to ruin the fun, guys." i apologize to my team. "it's okay." and "you're fine." and "it's alright." are said by the team before i wave goodbye, along with my brother. "bye guys, we'll see you tomorrow." Charlie says as the whole team waves and me, Charlie and mom start to walk home.
