"Miss Baek, where were you?"

Frightened to the core, Kyujin spun herself around as her eyes searched around the darkness in her living room. Her heart dropped in fear as her eyes adjusted to the light and it was visible to her now that there was a shadowy figure on the couch near her TV. "Well? Answer me, daughter." The figure stood up and stepped into the light from her lobby. As soon as she laid her eyes on the person, Kyujin let out a deep and relieved exhale, recognizing that it was her father.

"Sir~" Kyujin whined, stomping her feet on the floor as her father had begun to laugh. "How can you just sit there in the dark like that!" She pointed her finger at the dark room as Mr. Baek walked closer to his daughter, holding her in his arms feeling just a little bad for scaring her like that. Kyujin snuggled into her dad's arms, closing her eyes. "I was just at Jungwon's. Just the house next door." She gave him an answer to his question.

"Jungwon... Yang Jungwon?" His tone switched. Sensing the disappointment and slight anger in his voice, Kyujin let go and Mr. Baek did as well to look down at his daughter. "Didn't your mother and I tell you to stay away from him?" She gulped. Kyujin's mouth was opened agape but no words could exit her mouth. She wondered why on earth did they hate Jungwon so much? Did they have history?

"I'm sorry—"

"Baek Kyujin! You're still awake?!" Frantic, Mrs. Baek revealed herself up on the elegant spiral staircase eyeing her daughter and her husband. "My, my! Go to bed! You have school the next day!" Mrs. Baek rushed down the marble steps and pointed at her. Kyujin was a little shocked by her sudden appearance but nonetheless bowed, excusing herself from both of her parents.

Kyujin placed her bag next to the table which held keys in a bowl. As she bent down to be level with her bag's pocket, a shiny yet rusty key caught her attention. But, it really wasn't just the key who caught her eye, it was the label hanging onto a metal ring wrapped and laminated. The label which read, 'Kyujin's drawer'. Mrs. Baek stopped talking to her husband about his immature behaviour as if she could sense the eerie tension filling the semi-lit room and noticed how quiet Kyujin had become. Luckily for her, she caught her staring at the key she had forgotten to put away. Without wasting another second, Mrs. Baek lunged forward and snatched the key off the table, scaring Kyujin to quite an extent.

"O-Off you go, dear," She stuttered, grip tightening on the metal key in her hands. "Have a good night." Kyujin didn't even glance back at her parents or reply before rushing up the steps and running inside her room. On the way, she passed many 'family' photos and couldn't help but wonder.

Closing the door with her back, she held her phone in her hands which laid on top of her heart. It was beating like crazy. The sudden phone call didn't help her shaken state but she picked up the call without sparing a glance at the caller ID. "Hello?" She said in a breathy whisper.
