Hisoka's pov
When I sat next to Illumi, I could tell that he was a little uncomfortable. I put a little distance between us and poured him a glass of lemonade. He took it but just stared at it.
"Is anything wrong?" I asked him, slowly putting my hand on his.
He shook his head and turned away. "It's nothing," he said, taking a sip of lemonade and scrunched his nose slightly. "Why is it so fizzy?"
I blinked a couple of times. Illumi never had lemonade before? I mean, it wasn't really a big shock, seeing how he was raised, but I was still surprised.
"The bubbles make it taste good. Do you want some pizza?" I asked and took a bite out of the pizza.
Illumi stared at me and took a slice. "I've never had this before," he muttered.
I watched him take a small bite and his eyes lit up. He quickly finished the slice and took another one. I laughed and started eating mine. It was a really good pizza. Very cheesy. We ate the pizza and I sat back on the couch, watching Illumi from the corner of my eye. He looked deep in thought, so I moved closer to him and put my arm around his shoulders. He stared at me but kept my arm around him and I couldn't get over how amazing he looked. I smiled. Illumi was just so perfect.
"How are you feeling?" I asked him, picking up a cookie.
He just shrugged, so I sat him up and looked into his big dark eyes. "Illumi..." I pleaded.
"I'm fine, Hisoka. I just need some time to relax. Do you want to go to the woods?"
I nodded my head, finishing the cookie. I put my phone in my pocket and got my cards from my room. We put our shoes on and left the apartment. We ran to the woods, taking the back alleys to get there quicker. Illumi was breathtaking when he ran, his long hair flowing behind him and his face set in concentration. I just hoped that the woods would make him feel better and more relaxed.
When we got to the woods, Illumi slowed to a walk. He grabbed my wrist and I followed him. I could tell that he was already calming down, so I got closer to him. We walked further into the woods together until we came to a small clearing. It was full of flowers, and I could see a small doe at the edge of the clearing.
"Illu, look," I whispered, holding his shoulders.
Illumi saw it and his eyes widened slightly. The doe looked up, staring at us for a few seconds, then walked away. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding and sat down by a tree, shuffling my cards. I saw that Illumi was digging a hole and I smiled. He was strange. He looked at me before jumping down into it and I closed my eyes, feeling the warm sun on my face. It reminded me of the first time I met Illumi.
I was running through the woods on a sunny day, throwing my cards at trees, trying to perfect my technique. I did this daily, but there was still so much I could improve on. I stopped at the edge of a clearing, hearing something. I climbed a tree and looked down at the clearing to get a better view. I saw a boy a few years younger than me fighting an older man. His father maybe? He was strong, and his aura felt threatening. I leaned down, holding the tree for support as I watched the fight below.
The boy had short black hair that framed his face, a stark contrast to the man he was fighting. He was trying to stab something into the man. Needles? Yes, needles. I watched in awe as the two fought for what seemed hours, and they finally stopped. The boy was sweating and covered in blood. The man barely had a few scratches on him. He was definitely the more experienced one.
I licked my lips, wanting to fight them both. Oh, how fun would it be. The man said something to the boy and walked away, leaving the raven-haired boy to pick up his needles.
I carefully jumped off my branch and walked over to the boy. His aura was definitely strong, and I could tell that he was angry. He didn't notice me until I was only a couple of meters away, then he turned to look at me.
"Hey there," I said and gave him a small wave.
He just stared at me, anger in his eyes. He didn't say anything.
"You're really strong," I continued. "Do you want to fight?"
The boy just continued to look at me, then turned his back. "I don't just fight anyone."
I smiled. "So you do have a voice then. Can I at least have your name?"
He didn't turn around again so I continued talking. "I'm Hisoka. I'm a magician. Maybe I could show you a trick if you wanted."
The boy turned around again. His eyes were so big and dark. I needed to fight him, to see just how strong he was. "My name's Illumi. And what kind of trick?"
I smirked and walked over to him. I put my hand behind his ear and pulled out a card. "Whatever trick you wanted to see."
He thought for a second, then held up a needle. "Can you turn this into a flower?"
I took it off of him and waved my hand in front of it, working my magic. When I moved my hand, I was holding a flower and I handed it to him. Illumi looked at it with wide eyes, then quickly looked around.
"Meet me here tomorrow at seven in the morning. We can fight then."
With that, he took off, running in the direction the man went. I closed my eyes and smiled. "Thank you, Illumi."
I opened my eyes and saw Illumi sitting in front of me. I smiled and stood up. The sun was setting, and I must have fallen asleep. I smiled at Illumi and we ran out of the woods together and back home.
