Their croaking, baying voices hold dark shades of expression

A particle of one fell on his face. Stupefied, the doctor swallowed the creature, feeling it tremble within. He felt a creeping, demon echoing and spreading beyond, mingling with multiple voices of surpassing mystery ringing in his skull.

Some students afterwards, through theories of fancy and fear wondered if the doctor had turned mad. Most ignorant thought it seemed he was becoming eccentric at his wizened elder age.
