You sat up, glancing towards the male, then towards the door. “I should really get going, sir.” The male pouted and hugged his legs. “Will you be back tomorrow?” His voice was husky - dry almost - and quiet, you nodded. “Of course, this place has too many books, and too much history to figure out in a single day,” You stood, looking around before you smiled and glanced at him. “Besides, you look like you're in need of company. I'll bring a sleeping bag tomorrow and I'll stay the night, how does that sound?”
“I'd like that.” The male nodded. “But please, call me Suga, not sir.” You shrugged. “Sorry, I'll try to remember,” You pouted. “I'm not too good with names.” Suga seemingly chuckled, rolling his eyes as if a tease. “Or ya know, I just won't come back!” You shrugged. “No! Please come back.” You chuckled and nodded. “I will, trust me,” You smiled. “This place has too much history to leave unscratched, besides, you're here.” You watched Suga smile softly. “Is that why you’d come back?” He tilted his head, and you nodded. “Of course, history isn’t as important as the person living it.” You stepped forward and raised your hand, touching his cheek and caressing it softly. He leant into the touch. “I’ve missed the sense of human touch,” He mumbled. Just enough to be heard. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” You nodded and dropped your hand from his cheek before smiling.
“Sugawara?” You froze, Suga’s face was paling more so than it already was. “Noya!” The male chuckled as you dropped your head, staring wide eyed at the ground, ‘There’s more of them? He said he was the only fucking one left― fuck, I’m screwed.’ An arm wrapped around your shoulder as six words sounded. ‘Why is there a human here?’ The grip grew around you, this time, two arms tight around you. “Noya—” “I won’t tell Daichi, just get her out before he returns.” Sugawara nodded and let you go. “Suga, what’s going on?” You knew he was hiding something, but this bad? Fuck. “You need to go? And not come back.” You opened your mouth to speak, Suga shook his head. “No, just l-leave, before Daichi returns.” You winced before turning to walk off. “Suga—!” You froze and looked beyond you, the two males widened their eyes before the shorter one ran at you, grabbed your arm and pulled you towards the multiple bookshelves, while telling you to stay quiet. “Who is that?”
“That’s Daichi,” The male before you made you crouch down. “He doesn’t like humans after he was hurt by one.” The male crouched in front of you, you winced at booming voices—Suga’s hurt while Daichi’s angered—the male wrapped you in his grip, knowing the pain and fear of hearing those two fight. “What’s your name?” You whispered, any type of conversation would distract you at this point, and the male smiled, chuckling softly under his breath. “Nishinoya,” He answered. “Call me Noya.” He watched you nod, before you winced and hid in his neck as the screaming and arguing grew louder. “Y/N.” You found the space to answer as Noya’s grip grew around you.
“It’s funny—It happened like this last time as well. I brought back a friend—a human as well—and Daichi wasn’t too pleased. Suga blocked the blow, scolding Daichi, distracting him so I could hide.” Noya held you close, rubbing your back and constantly rambling to block out the arguing voices. “I’m sorry about this,” Noya started. “Suga has a kind heart, a goofy and silly one at that, he just wants to help people, and Daichi used to be the same with humans like you, but—” “Time passes, doesn’t it?” Noya winced at the slam of a door, hugging you tighter as you tensed with fear. “Yeah, it does—shit, Suga!” Noya stood and ran for the main room, you were hesitant but followed nonetheless. “Suga-!” He looked up at your call, eyes widened with fear. “Y/N, get out of here, Daichi will return, g-get out o—” “No, I’m not leaving yet, shit—you’re injured,” You ran a hand through Suga’s hair. “No, Suga, I’m staying, you have scratches all over you, you need to be treated.” You glanced at Noya, who stood over the pair of you after you had crouched. “I should get him home, I have stuff that could help him.” You watched Noya bite his lip. “Uh,” Noya sighed, before nodding. “I’ll cover you guys, Y/N–” “Yes?” “Look after Suga.” You stood and nodded, Sugawara followed with a loud groan. “Get out of here before anyone else knows you’re helping us.”
You opened your mouth to speak before Sugawara groaned again. “Transform into a bat, it’ll be less suspicious, alright?” Within seconds after Sugawara nodded, he obliged and landed smoothly in your arms. “Thank you, Nishinoya, he’s safe with me.” Noya nodded as you ran for the door, you prayed you weren’t sending these guys into pure jeopardy as you held Suga tight in your arms, hiding him from the setting sun. “Y/N, why are you doing this? Risking your life for a shitty vampire like me?”
“Because I’ve never had more of a thrill in my life,” You mounted your horse, chuckling as you looked down at the bat in your arms. “Let’s go, boy!”
