You pushed open the door of the old mansion you managed to stumble across, looking back at your horse, earning a pout, you chuckled. “You stay put, scaredy cat.” You stepped inside as your breath shook in your chest. Your eyes scanned the area and you held your sword as you frowned and closed the door behind you.
“My Lady? You came?”
You froze. “What? My Lady? I'm not your lady, I don't fucking know you - you're a fucking bat..” Your brows were furrowed in concern, yet, you stepped forward again, and a bat, a few feet in front of you on a rusty throne of sorts smiled before a glass and a human appeared from thin air. “What-” Your eyes widened in panic and fear. “What the fuck—”
“I can see in your eyes. The panic. What's gotten you so scared?” A silver haired male stood in front of you, dressed in old attire and accompanied by a glass of red liquid - which you hoped was wine - in his left hand. “Is it me?” He tilted his head, your breath was staggered. “Y-You were a bat two seconds ago- n-now you're a fucking human with a cup of—” “Wine,” He answered, waving his right hand with a small chuckle. “I'm not that absurd.” You raised a brow.
“You're questioning it? Hm,” The male hummed softly before he stood and danced his way to you. “Here, take a sip, I promise, it isn't blood.” You raised a hand, pushing the now tilted glass away from your face, silently shaking your head. “Hmph,” You earnt a pout from the male. “Tough luck.” The male shrugged and took a sip before smiling. “What manners do I have?,” He grabbed your hand, pulling it up to his lips to kiss it. You only felt your breath stall. ‘A fucking vampire— they're real— fuck.’ “Koushi Sugawara,” He stood and smiled. “Call me Suga.” You realised a breath no sooner after choking on it. “Y/N,” You gulped nervously - he still hadn't dropped your hand, and your eyes were fixed on his pale grip. “L/N.”
“Oh!” He followed your eyes before dropping your hand. “My bad, love! It's been a few years since a human has stepped inside this ragged place,” He paused, glancing at you as you glanced around. “What brings you here anyway?” You froze. “Oh, uh,” You hesitated before looking up at the male. “I was riding around, and soon stumbled upon this fancy place..” You shrugged. “Curiosity gets the best of us.” The male smiled. “At Midnight?”
“What? No, it's the middle of the day— wait, yeah, you're a vampire, midnight for you.” You chuckled teasingly, earning a small eye roll from the male. “Very funny.” You shook your hand. “Hilarious, I know.” You soon chuckled softly. “This place, though,” You looked around, going to step away before looking at the male. “May I?” He nodded, only following you to see where you'd end. “This place is filled with so much history, it's what, two- three-?” “Eight centuries old.” Your eyes widened. “No,” You looked back at him as he smiled. “Holy shit, eight centuries of history on just vampires—” “But only for my family of vampires.”
“What are you guys, royals?”
“Fallen king's more or less.”
“Huh,” You pouted in thought, your right hand scaling the markings of an old king against the wall. “Do you mind if I look around? And possibly continue to come back for more research?”
“Don't tell anyone where this place is, or it'll be taken like our last kingdom.” You looked back at him and smiled, nodding reassuringly. “This is just for my pleasure— are there any more of you?” The male hesitated before shaking his head. “No,” He looked off, you furrowed your brows. ‘He's hiding something.’ “No, just me.” You soon sighed. “There's so much history, I'm amazed.” Your eyes scanned each carving, each word, each piece of art and almost each book. You picked one up, flipping through the pages before picking up a few more. “Can I park it here? And just, read my heart away?”
“As long as you read my favourite book after me.” He took a book from a high shelf. You nodded. “Deal.” A smile was plastered against your lips, you hugged the books tight and walked from the middle of the room, where you were standing moments earlier. There was a noticeable skip in your step, yet all the male did was flip a page in his favourite book as he walked for the throne you first found him on, of course - glass still held in hand, still full of what he pleaded to be wine.
You found a clear spot on the floor, immediately laying down on your stomach, opening the first of the four books you hand in hand. Your legs crossed by the meeting of your ankles, kicking back and forth as you held the book up and rested on your elbows. The male laid sideways across his throne - so elegantly in your own books - glancing down at you and the small smile of amazement that never left your pale lips. “I’ve never seen someone so interested in my books, Y/N,” He flipped a page, then took a sip. “Especially my oldest books.”
“What can I say?” You paused in your reading, your finger stuck on the last word read as you looked up at him. “I’m a sucker for a happy ending, and who knew vampires had romantic books hidden away to read?” The male chuckled. “My family was famous for ‘em.”
“Really?”
“Yep. We were all suckers for happy endings, just like you, Y/N.”
“Hey, uh-” “Suga.” He persisted with a nod. “Hey, Suga,” You restarted, chuckling lightly. “Mind me asking, but how old are you? In my eyes you look eighteen, if that.” You rolled your eyes, shrugging. “Something like that.” You furrowed your brow in confusion, looking back to the book nonetheless. “You’ve lost track?”
“It’s been a while.”
