one ; meet

The heavy rain started to pour, droplets began hitting the pavement hard.

"How idiotic of me." I muttered to myself.

I was currently on my way home from school and it was already getting dark.

My friend and I would usually drive together to school, and on the way back to our own home. But unfortunately for me, she's sick today.

I also can't call any of my relatives to pick me up because I forgot to charge my phone earlier and well yeah, battery's dead now. Great.

What can I say? Stupidity got the best of me. As always.

So I'm forced to take the long way home by walking. And my house is at least a 20 minute walk from school to there.

And in the middle of my walking, the clouds decided to piss me off even more and decided to precipitate rain on me.

Now I'm here, stuck in the alley, not knowing what to do.

I sighed and pulled out my ipod and my earphones from my backpack. At least I got something to entertain myself with.

Sweater Weather was blasting in my ears; perfect for the situation I'm in now because it's pretty freaking cold and I'm only wearing a thin, baggy sweater for my top half. I got a bra too, of course.

I closed my eyes and tried to relax because I'm damn right stressed right now.

As the song came to an end, I felt a poke on my stomach.

Confused, I opened my eyes to see a blonde guy in front of me. I looked at him in confusion as he cleared his throat awkwardly.

"Uh, hi." The boy said, giving a small but shy smile. He looked a bit young, almost like the same as my age. Almost the same height too but he was probably a few inches taller.

"Oh, hi." I raised both of my eyebrows in confusion and looked at him.

"Hi." He replied. He probably didn't realize that he just greeted me again. How cute.

"You, you just said that." I said, chuckling quietly to myself.

"I - oh, what? Uhm, okay, yeah. Right, so." He rambled, trying to find the words to say.

"You okay?" I giggled softly. He's adorable.

"Oh uh yea - yes of course." He smiled again awkwardly.

"Alright? Is there anything I could do for you?"

"Just, I'm - I was wondering uh, why you - you're alone? I, I guess? Uhm, are you like, fine?" He asked.

I noticed he was holding a folded umbrella when I saw his arms fidget. He was fiddling with it.

"I, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have disturbed you. I was wondering if, if I could, like, lend you an umbrella or jac- ugh, doesn't matter. I'm sorry again. But I have an extra jacket here. I really would like to help you. I know I'm a stranger and you probably think I'm a creep right now. I'm Luke. I'm so sorry. What. Okay, pretend I didn't exist. I'm sor- I just said that. Right, okay, hi."

"Oh, no no. You're not a creep, 's okay. And yeah, sure. I could use your help right now, if that's fine with you..?" I smiled. "Oh, and I'm Fleur. Hi, again."

He grinned and whispered an 'okay'. He then reached out for his bag but was struggling a little because he was holding an umbrella and his gadget.

"Uh, can you hold my umbrella for a sec? I mean, it's fine if n-" I cut him off by grabbing the object from his hand. "Go ahead." I chuckled.

He nodded, saying a small 'thank you' before reaching for his bag once again. He unzipped it and grabbed a spare jacket from the inside.

"Here." He smiled and lent me the piece of clothing. I gave him back his umbrella and wore the jacket. "Thank you so much, Luke." I said. "But I owe you a cup of any hot beverage. I have to repay your kindness."

"Oh no, it's okay, you don't ha-"

"I insist. Please?"

He hesitated for a moment before sighing. "Okay." And he gave a small smile.

I grinned. "Let's go then." He opened his umbrella and shared it with me as we began walking down the rainy street on the way to the nearest coffee house.
