You were a bundle of nerves as you stood outside the infamous Krac House. It would be the first time you had come face-to-face with Colby's friends since the night you walked out of Colby's life. You had no idea what three of the inhabitants of the house thought of you. You only knew that Aryia, sweet Aryia who had a heart of gold, who told you what his friends were saying, who stuck by your side in the aftermath of your heartbreak, still cared for you. You only knew that Aryia still thought highly of you, that he knew you were a good person with good intentions.
So, when you knocked on the door, you weren't surprised to see Kevin on the other side, a look of puzzlement crossing his face.
"Uhh, hey," he said. "Why...What are you doing here?"
"Aryia invited me over to film a video," you explained, trying to hide the panic that was beginning to overwhelm you. "He's home, right?"
Kevin blinked, as though he was trying to process that you and Aryia were still friends. Had he not told his roommates? Was he ashamed of—no. Don't think like that. You know Aryia isn't ashamed of you. It probably just slipped his mind. Then, Kevin said, "Uh, yeah. I think he's in the shower right now. Come in, come in."
Kevin moved out of the doorway, allowing you to come inside.
As you come inside, you hear Reggie shout, "Kevin! Who's at the door?"
Reggie's question was answered as you walked into the living room. Cassie and Reggie were sitting on the couch together, shock making their way across their faces as they stared at you.
"Hey," you said, with a small wave. You quickly explained why you were there, so they wouldn't have to go through the same awkward questioning as Kevin. "Aryia invited me over for a video."
Cassie shook off her shock first. "I didn't know you and Aryia were still friends."
"Uh, yeah. He was the only one of you guys that was ever really nice, and I wasn't about to lose a good friend because I apparently had issues with the rest of you guys." You hadn't really meant to sound as bitchy as you did but, truth be told, you were still upset that the entire situation had gone as far as it had.
"We're all really sorry that we let it go as far as it did without talking to you," Reggie said. "We just—"
"No, I get it," you said. "I...While I'm upset that you would think that about me, I understand why you did. I was an outsider, and you wanted to look out for your friend. I just wish that Colby would've done something, you know? At that point, he should've known I didn't have any ill intent and explained that to you. But he chose not to."
Cassie jumped in. "We still feel awful about it. You never gave us any real reason to be as cruel as we were."
Kevin nodded. "We've tried to figure out a way to make it up to you somehow, but we all kind of decided it was better to leave you alone after everything we did."
