L A I L A didn't remember how much time had passed ever since their life went to shit once again. Her school year had begun quite nicely, with her friends and Alonso present. She remembered being even happy for one moment, but the shadow of Guzman and their past together kept Laila from being truly content with her life.

At first, as she stepped foot back in Las Encinas those three months ago, Laila thought Guzman wouldn't be a problem anymore. He hated her, she remembered thinking, thus also having thought he'd leave her alone. And yet during those three months, so many things have happened between them, so many new changes and feelings.

But after this one particular disappearance, Laila couldn't help but feel a terribly huge void in her soul. It felt as though she knew who could've been at fault, and unlike during last time, she didn't know whether he was worth protecting. Because Laila truly didn't know whether he was innocent or guilty. For her own sake Laila hoped the former was the truth, but she had seen how calm he had looked after the news broke out.

But then again, it could've been an entirely different thing, something Laila chose to keep to herself, because she had to protect her family. It sucked, but she wasn't going to push her family under the bus in exchange for a guy who may or may not have ended up dead already.

Swallowing her fears and burdensome thoughts, Laila focused on the female in front of her, the woman not beating around the bush. "The first school day didn't end up being a nice thing after all, am I correct?"

Laila nodded her head, remembering her feelings upon seeing a fight between Guzman and Samuel, the former being furious to see his sister killer's brother reentering Las Encinas. "Samuel Garcia came back to Las Encinas, but he wasn't very welcome by Guzman and his friends, was he?" the detective asked curiously so Laila felt her head twitching before she exhaled and nodded once again. "What was Guzman's actual reaction, Laila?"

"What?" Laila questioned coldly, not knowing whether the detective noticed a hint of fear in her tone. Laila tried to control herself for the sake of everyone's calmness, but then again a guy went missing and none of them were presumably calm. Not Alonso at least. "You'll ask about Guzman again?"

The detective smiled calmly, which nerved Laila a bit too much. The girl fisted her hands under the table, feeling too terrible because she had to dodge the actual subject, something she knew or at least had a knack for. "You know Guzman."
