Faith POV

I laughed with Andre as we sat on the curb. The last time we hung out for this long was so long ago.
"So, you got a new partner. Is she cute?"
"No, she's annoying, " I replied, honestly.
He laughed. Our eyes were fixed on the gleaming river beside us. He's still the same. Glimmering blonde hair, beady red eyes. I heard the tapping of somebody's foot nearby.
"What are you two love birds doing?" Charli asked, crossing her arms behind us.
My heart pounded out of my chest. We both spun to face her.
"Uh I'm uh, " Andre stuttered.
"He has a boyfriend" I told her.
Charli's face went red.
"Oh, that's awkward."
"Charli, this is Andre. My friend, " I told her.
Andre waved and smiled at her.
Charli's eyes lit up as he saw him. "Those eyes," She murmured under her breath.
Andre got a notification and pulled out his phone, his smiles fading into a panicked stare.
"Faith. I need your help right now, " Andre said.
I noticed him panicking.
"What's up?"
"Chloe and Lydia are harassing me, " He said.
"Who are they?" Charli asked.
I completely ignored her and took Andre's hand. "Let's go by the hair salon. I'm sure they won't find us there. My friend is hanging around there at the moment, " I called, directing him.
"Okay."
We fled across the cracked roads and hurried on the broken sidewalks. The wind whipped my red and black skirt through the air. I directed us out of the gross town. Eventually, we reached our destination.
"Hey, Andre, " A familiar voice called.
Unfortunately enough, it was Lydia. The blonde-haired girl with two braids and blue eyes stood in front of me.
"Faith! It's been so long, " She called, hugging me.
"Yeah .." I said, with caution.
She giggled as her sister, Chloe followed behind her.
Chloe screamed, "FAITHY!"
My cheeks burned red.
"SHUT UP DUMBASS, " I yelled back.
Chloe bounced over to André and smirked.
"Heyyy, " She teased.
"Get away from me, " He said, pushing her away.
Chloe and Lydia both wrapped their arms around him.
"I'm being harassed."
I rolled my eyes.
He spun around and glared at the people below him and noticed Sebastian, leaning against a peach wall, listening to music. His face swerved red. Chloe raised her eyebrows and laughed.

"I see you looking, " She whispered in his ear.

André paused and turned around.

"I wasn't doing anything, " he insisted.

"YES, YOU WERE, " Lydia yelled.

I ignored them and watched Charli and a jet-black-haired boy have conversation. I tried to overhear them.
"Listen, I told you I liked you but I don't anymore, " Charli said, pleading.
Teenage drama. I never understood it.
"FAITH, A LITTLE HELP, " André begged.
I glared and Chloe and Lydia who were attaching to Andre's arms.
"You girls are so annoying, " I told them.
"Say that again and we'll do the same thing to you, " Lydia threatened.
Seb took his headphones off and starred at Andre. He turned pink and tried to avoid eye contact. I smirked and saw this as a great opportunity.
"Hey, Sebastian, " I called. "Come up here."
He shook his head.
"Come on," I insisted.
He sighed, walking up the steps to me.
I glanced at him and smirked. Reuniting old childhood friends.
"Hi," Seb whispered.
André jumped as his face warmed. Chloe and Lydia were having a blast messing around with him.
"Seb's right there," Chloe teased.
"Give him a kiss," Lydia joked.
Even though I was teasing a little, I was getting fed up. "Will you girls lay off for a bit?" I asked.
"Want us to harass you about Ja-"
"Don't remind her of that," André interrupted.

I"m glad he was there. I don't want to talk about Jade... Seb avoided making eye contact with André.
"André, take Seb to the gang. I want him to see it if I need to go there with him," I ordered André.
"Why me?" He exclaimed.
Seb glared at him and tried to hide his sadness behind his hair.
I gave him a death stare.
"I didn't mean it in that way. I'll take him I guess," André replied.
Seb crossed his legs and started fidgeting with his hands. I noticed he was becoming anxious. I would usually overreact but I think he needs to build up the courage to talk to somebody besides me.
"Come on," said André, smiling.
Seb gazed up and nodded his head, following Andre's path.

André POV

My heart instantly started racing. My old childhood friend was walking beside me. I felt awkward.
"So, how's your dad?" I asked, trying to start a conversation .
Suddenly, his fidgeting stopped. We had a pretty long pause, passing a few buildings.
"Sick and drunk," He replied.
Just what I expected. His father couldn't control himself. We both had messed up lives. My parents got rid of me when I was 6. I ran away from my abusive adoptive parents when I was 14. They, fortunately, didn't care. On the rare occasion social workers wanted to check up on me, my adoptive parents said that I had social anxiety and couldn't talk to anyone and that I was seeing a therapist. But since I'm nearing 16 and I live in the most ghetto area in the city, I doubt they even remember my existence. I started dating Max when I was 15 and joined the gang. I was able to continue school until I dropped out when I was 16. "I hope you're alright," I said.
He nodded.
As we pushed closer and closer to the large gray gate, near Leo's telephone shop, my heart turned faster.
In silence, we walked for a moment or two. "Do you have a partner?" I asked them.
His hands were shaking in panic as he flinched.
"No..."

"Ah, I'm dating Max. The gang leader," I replied.
l I snatched on to Seb's shaken hand.
"Come."
I looked into his gleaming hazel eyes. We climbed up the metal fence and jumped to the ground, dust surrounding us. I ran around the brick walls until i reached our hideout
"Hey, André," Dai said.
Dai is a guy in the gang. I guess you could say we're friends.
"Hey," I replied.
He smirked, looking at Seb. "Who's that?" He asked.
"My old friend."
"Max wouldn't like seeing you with him,"
"Okay?" Irritation burned my skin. I took Seb's hand and pulled him with me to the side. I paused, examining the bricks.
"Andre..." Seb whispered.
"What's up?" I asked him.
He stood there with rosy cheeks and an unsure face in silence.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Faith," He mumbled
"Oh, right. You miss her," I replied.
Seb nodded his head slowly.
I smiled and pressed on a brick. Suddenly, a staircase appeared in the wall. "Come on," I said, grasping onto his hand, leading him up the stairs. He stared at the ground. I asked him, "So, do you like it?"
As he glanced around the rooms, he simply shrugged. The place is rundown; the walls are planks and the floor has been stained. The kitchen is tiny and the bedrooms contain enormous beds that take up the majority of the space. People in the gang often stay here. I usually cook for them because they're not very good at it. That reminds me, they went out somewhere and will be back soon. Max will be here soon too. I need to get him away from Sebastian, otherwise he won't be happy.
"Seb, come on!" I yelled as I grabbed his hand. Together we bolted down the stairs and closed the brick door. My heart pounded out of my chest. We rushed to the fence. Seb grabbed the metal and held on tight. As I was climbing up the fence, I saw Seb struggling beneath me. I reached my hand out, and his face grew red from embarrassment. He gripped onto my hand and we leaped over. He ran ahead of me. I followed his lead. We hurried down the street.
