"Congratulations, Xander, you have done wonders with your first field assignment." David smiled at Xander, one of his newest recruits into the Magical Protection Agency.
"Thank you, sir," Xander replied.
"Now," David continues onward with the conversation. "I understand that your first meeting with Prince Jekyll wasn't exactly a pleasant one. My question for you is if you are willing to return to the Magical Dimension to investigate something for us?"
"Of course, sir," Xander agrees without hesitation. "Through the video classes of training, I've been in I see the errors I took when I first went to the second dimension. I shouldn't have a problem keeping a sharp eye out for whatever seems to be amiss."
"That is the problem, Xander," David warns him. "The headquarters in Jekyll's kingdom has yet to state what seems to be arousing suspicion among their employees. They simply requested that someone from our dimension go to lead a hand and I volunteered your skill to this mission."
"Thank you," Xander finds himself amazed at the flattery from his boss. "But I have yet to develop much skill for this job. I have hardly been here for a month yet."
James chuckled, smiling at Xander. "I've been here long enough to recognize talent when I see it. Please send in a report as soon as you have information on absolutely anything that could be going on. Even if your accusations are incorrect I don't like the way that the second dimension office is keeping information from us. Keep a lookout. Do your best. And you are dismissed."
Xander nods to thank his boss before heading out. He has to gather some things before he heads to the Dimension Chamber Portal Room to sign out of the first dimension and enter into the second.
The transition is much smoother than the first time. He stepped through the portal without falling unconscious but then has to be caught by some men who are standing guard at the other side of the portal. "Thanks," he mumbled before giving himself a few minutes to adjust.
From the portal, he heads to one of the worker entrances of the castle. He has to locate a second dimension MPA worker and then with his approval, he is let into the castle with directions to where he would find Prince Jekyll. Although he feels like a pawn in some kind of chess game, he knows that somewhere along the ride he would run into something that seems amiss.
Well, except for the fact that he's a perfectly normal human in a world of magic. Everything works a little differently in the second dimension and he finds himself in constant awe over the magical castle.
"Well look at who was sent to my aid."
Xander spins around and finds Jekyll striding down an adjacent hallway towards him. The prince's hair glistens in the sunlight as his hands hang from the pockets of his torn black jeans. Even his shirt isn't centered on his chest, not at all the appearance Xander would expect from a prince. But, Xander can't quite stop himself from watching the magical prince walk towards him.
"I wasn't aware that I was sent on a mission to help you," Xander pointed out as he takes a few steps to meet up with Jekyll.
"I had to instruct the local MPA to keep some information from David. He sticks his big nose into every correspondence if we aren't careful," Jekyll scrunched his nose in disapproval. "And I knew the wording we used would make him think of you in an instant. Congratulations, Xander, you have been brought here thinking that you are looking for some mysterious something when the problem is much more apparent than you would ever believe. With every few rounds of recruits my father or I bring in some fresh eyes on the situation. Come with me," Jekyll speaks quickly but with a prompt tone that is easy to understand. The moment he closed his lips he's already walking off again with his long strides and Xander has to hurry to keep up with him.
