Chapter 01: First Day in Senior Hood

I looked at the brownstone building I was about to enter. The year end holidays were long gone and now it was school day. I walked up the concrete stairs confidently.
Once stepping into the school halls, I was hit by the smell of freshly printed books from the classrooms and the loud chattering of students talking. I glanced excitedly into the classrooms as I made my way to the admissions office.
My eyes lit up when I saw the books neatly pilled up for the students, as I made my way behind the rows of stacked books I saw a lady who looked like she was in her forty's who was staring intently at the computer screen.
"Excuse me, ma'am?" I said loud enough for her to hear, she turned to me and smiled. "Yes? What can I help you with?" She said politely, her wrinkles stretching up as she smiled at me.
"My name is Alice Winters, I would like to have my books and my schedule if you please." I said with respect as she typed my name into the keyboard and turned around to grabbed a dozen textbooks from the corner and ripped the piece of paper from the printer.
"Here you go Alice and have a great year in Senior Hood!" She said cheerily. "Why thank you!" I said with excitement. I breathed in the scent of the new books, I had a feeling this year would be great.
