Sephora's POV

I look around, confused as to why we landed here. Peter, as if reading my thoughts explains it.
"This is Mermaid Lagoon. I know they look beautiful, but be careful. Mermaids are known to be downright bitches around other females. They tried to drown Wendy." He says, a protective arm around my waist. I nod, looking down wide eyed at the water filled with 6 gracefully thrashing mermaidens. One surfaces next to our rock.
"Hello Peter, who's your little friend?" She asks, eyeing me with her silvery grey eyes. "Hello Arista, this is Sephora. She's coming to live with us. Her mother is Jane and grandmother is Wendy." He says, polite but cautious with the woman with a fin. Her face goes a bit sour before she recovers.
"Oh, yes, I can see the resemblance. You have your grandmother's eyes." She says, ducking back under, her burgundy hair flowing angrily behind her. I look up at Peter, blushing lightly.
"Let's bring you to your new home." He says, smiling and taking my hand, kicking off from the rock, sending us soaring, once again, into the air. I smile, closing my eyes, enjoying the feeling of wind rushing through my hair. I open my eyes, lookimg around as Peter tells me where everything is.
"And that's Pirate's Cove. Captain Hook and his crew live there. He's a horrible man, tried to kill Pix and myself many times. Almost killed your mum and grandmother too. Stay away from there unless I go with you. It's not safe." He says, gripping my hand tighter. We dip down into a small clearing, showing a giant tree with leaves the size of my arms.
"This is home. We used to just live under it, but we've earned some new members and expanded to the branches as well. I think there are 3 open rooms if I'm not mistaken. You can choose whichever you like." He says, walking me towards the giant oak.

He shows me the first room, which is underground. It is dimly lit and smells like dirt. There's an old, wrought iron bed in the room with a small bureau and a rust speckled mirror leaning against the wall atop it. Definitely not anything I'd want. The second room is above ground. It is the second room up the tree and has vines growing through the roof, a bed and a small table with one chair adorning the room. It's better than the last one, but still nothing I'd want to live in. Then, he takes me to the very top of the tree. I look at the treehouse, it's walls on 3 sides consisting of windows that can be opened to fan out from the house on the bottom so that they can be open when it's raining. We enter the structure and a lightly worn love seat is placed on a woven rug, blankets piled up in a basket on the floor. A bookshelf takes up the wall that is window free. There's a table made to seat 3 or 4 people, 4 mismatched chairs surrounding it. There is also a small kitchen consisting of an old gas stove and oven, a mini fridge, and a satelite radio. There is a toilet, shower, and sink behind a curtain as well as a makeshift kitchen sink next to the little oven. There are two cabinets, one filled with pots and pans, the other with plates, bowls, and cups. There is a little drawer filled with silverware that are all slightly bent. He takes my hand, showing me that the bed is in a loft, just a pile of blankets and pillows on the wood floor.
"I love it." I say after he finished showing me around. He smiles.
"Great! I'll have Pix bring your stuff up right away! Oh, by the way, if you ever need anything my treehouse is right across that bridge. And if I'm not there just crow like a rooster and someone will come." He says, flying down to get Pixie to bring my stuff up. I sigh, smiling as I sit down on the love seat, happy for the first time in years. He comes back after a few minutes, my luggage with him, Pixie following close behind with Todd. They place my things down in the little living room and I thank them. They leave me to unpack my belongings. Peter turns around once he gets to my door.
"Oh, also, we tend to have breakfast from 8 to 9:30. Lunch is usually whenever we're here, so someone will call everyone down to eat. Dinner is at 6 or sometimes 7. Also here's some pixie dust, you'll need it to be able to get up here by yourself. It'll come naturally eventually, but in the meantime you'll have to put it on whenever you need to fly." He says, smiling and handing me the fist sized pouch. I take it and put it in my bag, thanking him again. He leaves my treehouse and I watch as he walks across the bridge and into his own treehouse. I continue to unpack, putting my books away by alphabetical order. I place my piano in front of the window facing the east. My electric guitar and bass lean against either side of my piano. I put my acoustic right next to my bed. Closing the door, I open Todd's cat carrier. He hesitantly leaves the safety of his box and looks around, sniffing suspiciously. He looks up at me and I pick him up, walking him around and showing him his new home. After the tour I place him back down and he springs up to the loft, kneading the blankets a bit before curling up and falling fast asleep. Suddenly, I realize just how tired I am and after putting my clothes and makeup away, I follow suit, crawling up into the loft and sliding under the blanket, Todd snuggling into me as my eyes drift closed, falling into a deep and peaceful sleep.
