The Ransom of Maddie Parker

4: Hadley (Past)

My alarm went off.
It was 6:15 a.m., and I had to get ready for school. I got dressed, put on my makeup, and went downstairs to get breakfast. My mom was still a little shaken from last night. I decided to obey the psychologist and leave her alone for a little bit, after she has calmed down. "Hadley... Where's Maddie?" Asked Mrs. Parker. "I'm not sure mom..." Replied Hadley. "I said... where is Maddie? I hate having to repeat myself!" Said Mrs. Parker, her tone escalating quickly. "Dad! Mom's doing it again!" Cried Hadley. Mr. Parker rushed downstairs clutching a bottle of Mrs. Parker's pills prescribed from her psychologist. "You'd better go to school a little early Hadley, your mom needs to calm down a little." Suggested Mr. Parker. Hadley went to brush her teeth, then came down and grabbed a cliff bar on the way out.

Hadley walked into her school. There weren't a lot of people there yet, besides teachers and the drama club setting up for a play. Hadley walked in and went to her locker. She stood right beside it, playing geometry dash on her phone. Just as she was about to beat her high score, a text notification popped up on her screen.

It was from Maddie.
