Mordecai watched his surroundings pass rather quickly as he and his cohort drove out into what could have been labeled as the middle of nowhere. There was nothing but trees and bushes that were all parted just enough by an overgrown set of tire tracks. Not many knew it was possible to get through this far, but there was a reason for that. This was where the Lackadaisy supposedly got their stock of contraband nowadays as reported by the pig farmers only a few days ago. Asa, being the ever-gracious piece of work he was, sent Mordecai and Nico out on their own to scope the area for a night or two, just to see if they had any run-ins with their rivals and sabotage anything they could to keep the Lackadaisy from getting more alcohol of any variety.
The sun was now setting and Mordecai couldn't help but wonder if this was going to work. He'd never slept outdoors surrounded by nature before; however, he glanced to his driver and felt ever so slightly at ease. If there was anyone he'd trust with outdoor survival, it was Nicodeme Savoy, given his supposed childhood. Stories had only ever been really told secondhand, so he could only trust Asa's word on such things. Not that it mattered. As they came into a clearing, the tuxedo's nose scrunched and his eyes squinted as the setting sun's blinding rays attacked from the spaces between the leaves. He turned his head and brought his hand up to shield himself as best as he could, but it only accomplished so much.
Nico paid close attention to the "road" in which he was currently driving on. There were small fallen branches in his way but the automobile handled those rather well. He just needed to be sure nothing too big was in the way. This had been the first time he was sent on a mission without his sister and just with Mordecai. Although he was never sent alone, he had never been sent with the grumpy, stern faced individual. Coming up on what he could only assume was a clearing, and the other side of the clearing a small cliff, the big, white and gray cat came to a slow stop.
"Here we are petite hache. At leas' dis as close we gon git wit 'out get'n spotted."
The large man turned off and stepped out of the vehicle, taking a deep breath of fresh air. A gust of wind hit him as he was breathing in. He coughed an exhale after getting a large lung full of the smell.
"Nasty pig shit...who can live like dis?"
He swore mostly to himself. When the breeze died down, the smell wasn't too awful at least.
Mordecai watched Nico step out and waited a moment to take a deep breath and prepare himself for whatever it was that he should be concerned about. When he was ready, he stepped out and look a quick look around. There was no sign of civilization and, frankly, that was a frightening thought. Pushing that away for now, the tuxedo walked around to the back of the vehicle to start gathering their supplies.
"Before we begin our work, I would like to say that if I am to meet a sudden and untimely death, whether that be by the paws of a bear or the bite of some other woodland creature, I simply request a proper burial. I don't want to be fed to a drove of pigs regardless of how convenient that may be."
The man said, knowing that his cohort was close enough to hear him.The Cajun man watched as the tuxedo hopped out of the vehicle and collected the supplies. He rolled his shoulders and stretched out his neck, the drive having been a bit long. When he heard the request, he laughed heartily.
"Dun' worry mon amie! You ain't dyin on my watch."
He sauntered up to the smaller man and clapped him thrice on the back, a little harder than he had intended, then grabbed the rest of the supplies from the back that Mordecai hadn't picked up. The Cajun man flexed his arms cockily. The tuxedo's brows knitted together and narrowed his eyes. He didn't appreciate the rough slaps on his back nor the boastful action of the other man, so he simply shrugged the bag he'd grabbed further up onto his shoulder and walked past while muttering.
