The prince of the Mudbeard family, Leonard Mudbeard, hesitantly buttoned up his shirt, slip on his shoes and organise his crown on top of his head. He looked himself in the mirror and saw what he had become. It didnt even feel like him at all. He felt like a stranger, a sad lonely stranger. Someone who will forever be cursed to never find love or feel happy again.

As today is his wedding day. A day planned and assembled by his parents and his soon-to-be-wifes parents. Without even considering what he may want, the only thing that was important in their eyes were status and money. A knock came from the door, rested behind him as it screeched open, revealing his mother. He faked a smile a adjusted his posture as his mother had been teaching him for years. The mother stood in front, adored at how the young prince reminded her of her husband.

You look just like your father.
She cupped her hands together, hanging them by her waist. Leonard smiled softly, not overjoyed to be compared to his dad.

Thanks, mother
He replied back almost a whisper. His mother stepped closer and reached for something hidden inside her layers of fabric of dresses. She pulled out a golden necklace that was laced with little sparkling jewellery. In the middle of it was a larger emerald, reflecting his reflection as it got closer and closer towards him. Leonard was shocked to see it. It was a very precious piece of jewellery that his father would always scold him for even looking at.

This will bring you good luck, for your special day my angel.
His mother spoke with gospel in her voice as she wrapped the gems around his neck, sparkling with his crown. Leonard looked down at the large emerald that was now resting in his careful hands.

Does father know?
Leonard asked with a shivering tone to his voice. She smiled softly, standing still as she admired her son one last time. Then she shook her head in agreement.

Dont worry, this is your day. The day where you will continue the Mudbeard legacy.
She leaned forward and gave him his one last kiss on the forehead, before finally exiting the room, leaving Leonard there to see the unhappy stranger once again, just now with more fame and riches around his neck. Leonard walked through the hallways; his red extravagant robe being carried behind by four servants who obviously arent treated well. Leonard always felt bad for them but knew if he tried to help, he would suffer worse than them and as a child was always afraid of that. More servants stood aside of two large doors. Leonard took a deep breath and awaited for the light to blind his face. The doors slowly revealed the outside light and showed the rows of people watching Leonard with intensity. Leonard forced himself to ignore the many eyes that soured his mind and to continue forward towards where he would officially marry his future bride.

Leonard stood in front of the podium, waiting. Soon the doors opened once again and there she was, alongside an old man who he assumed was her father. From afar she was wearing a long elegant vail that covered most of her face. Her dress was slim and long, trailing down the few steps. Diamonds were coloured all over her dress that shined into Leonards eyes every step he took. Laces were wrapped around her waist, forming a big bow behind her, with the excess almost reaching the floor. Her head was down with both the vail and her short curly hair covering her face.

She slowly walked down the aisle, with her fathers arm wrapped around hers. As she got closer and closer, it seemed that the father was becoming more and more frustrated, forcing her further and further towards Leonard. She was completely motionless, just looking at the ground as her father tugged her along, like a corpse. Once she reached the podium, she didnt turn to face him and just stayed in place. Leonard stood tall and didnt acknowledge it, understanding that this wasnt her choice either. Unfortunately, her parents thought different. A woman that had been fixated on her, from the side of the podium, suddenly glitched towards her and hooked her pointy fingers onto her face and jolting it upwards to face the pope in front of them. The women went back to being a statue and Leonard tried to forget that awkward moment as the pope began to speak. Leonard didnt really pay attention to what the pope was saying, his mind mostly ringing around worries of this quiet girl.

Please face the bride.
Leonard jumped back into reality, seeing the girl slowly and almost like in a trance turned to face Leonard. Leonard turned to face her as well, still unable to see her face through the vail and her hair.

The families of Mudbeard and Hummingbird shall now be connected as one from the hands of Leonard Mudbeard and Rose Hummingbird.
As the pope spoke, he reached for each of their hands, cupping them together, expressing the little choice both of them had in this. After the pope spoke, a servant then appeared to hand over a soft pillow with two very expensive rings, rested on top. Leonard reached out for one ring, looking over at the girl who still hasnt shown much reaction during the whole ceremony, who has slightly glanced over at the rings. Rose hesitantly grabbed a ring herself, her hands shaking with regret. Leonard and Rose proceeded to place a ring on their fingers, now officially husband and wife.

You may now kiss the bride.
Leonard hesitantly looked up at Rose, still emotionless. His hands rattling around as he reached for her vail. He threw the vail back with everyone watching in suspense. Leonard was finally able to see Roses face. A face that looked disturbed and lost in despair. Leonard finally locked eyes with Rose as she looked up in complete horror as they both knew what had to be done. They both leaned closer and kissed, causing the crowd to scream in cheer as Rose and Leonard just showed their condolences through their eyes.
