Because of the morning's incident, I missed my first two periods and made it to my Biology class. I take my seat slightly bewildered because our teacher wasn't here.

"Strange." I think

I stared out the window utterly terrified of what happened. The door opened jerking me back to reality. It wasn't our usually teacher, however, this one was a male, about 5'9" and was wearing a nice, black suit with a grayish-blue tie.

"Good morning class, the name's Crowley. Due to untimely events of your teacher," he was british and his voice was a sort of gruff; and he was looking directly at me, "I will be your new teacher."

He took roll call and he had to call my name several times before I answered.

Just before I was going to leave at the end of class, Crowley called me to wait.

"Yes sir." I say

"You're Alice, right?"

"Yes sir."

"You're an exceptional student, but you seemed quite out of it today. Are you okay?"

I thought about what happened to Marge. I decided not to share it.

"I'm okay. I haven't slept well the past few days." This wasn't untrue.

"Well, do try to play attention, Alice."

I blushed when he said my name. I hope it wasn't obvious. He gave a mischievous smile. He noticed.

****

"Do I like him?" I asked myself. "Well, he is quite attractive. Look at you, your arguing with yourself."

I continued my nightly routine, when all of a sudden, my phone I rang. I answered, it was my mother.

"Alice, listen to me." Her voice sounded urgent and scared. "You can't trust anyone. Call that emergency number I gave you. And remember, your father and I love--" the line went dead.

"Mother!" I screamed.
