25 degrees. It was a little too hot, y/n thought, to be late September.

She dropped her left arm on her side while with her right she held her cell phone close to her ear, forwarding a call to her mother to warn her that she would be coming home for dinner.

Tokyo was always hectic, the lights of the cars darting past her drawing colored streaks on the corner of her eye, people walked energetically and mingled with each other, sometimes overtaking each other; there were passers-by laughing, groups of students discussing their summer loves, someone criticized their boss with an angry tone on the phone, others were looking for a place to eat (or drink).

Everyone had their little role in the city that never sleeps.

Allowing herself to be carried away by the sinuous movement of the crowd, she almost forgot to turn into the crossroad that led from Shibuya to her home, a complex of very tall and particularly luxurious buildings. Tokyo was undoubtedly the most beautiful city she had ever seen, she thought.

As she crossed the back streets illuminated by the dim light of the street lamps, her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a noise, a voice, like a moan. She turned behind her, then to the sides, spinning around, to understand where it came from.

A feeling of anxiety mixed with excitement began to pervade her chest as something caught her attention: a light coming from the old abandoned building in front of hers, a building that had begun to be built and never finished, a refuge for homeless and often ill-intentioned people.

She took a deep breath and moved her right foot forward. "I have to be brave, I want to be" she repeated these words in her head three times like a mantra, as she was swallowed by the darkness of the building, letting herself go to curiosity.

Lighting herself with the flashlight of her cell phone she went up to the second floor, the old stale wooden stairs creaked under her feet, as if to bend under her weight at any moment. She listened as she looked out into the second-floor corridor. That moan again. This time it was more distinct.

Trying not to make any noise, she tiptoed across the corridor, her boots trampling pieces of glass and small objects covered with dust. She found herself in an empty room, or so she initially thought.

Slowly her eyes began to get used to the dark and start to focus: illuminated by the light of the moon, which was full that night, she saw that the room was large and surrounded by five glassless windows. She picked up the phone for even better light, looking desperately for something, even though she didn't know what. It was then that she saw it: the cause of those noises.

A creature with four legs, greenish in color and an elongated snout, similar to a human stood in the farthest corner of the room. Her mind was traveling at 100 km/h: what was that being? Had she gone mad?.

Stepping back in fright, she tripped over electric cables, banging her butt hard on the ground.

As she pushed aside to retrieve the cell phone that had slipped from her hand, she realized that the creature was approaching her: it was fast.

With a lightning bolt she tried to get up, stumbling again. Her body did not react: it was petrified.

"It's the end, I'm dead", she thought.

Crawling her palms against the rough wall for support, she felt her heart pounding in her chest, closed her eyes, breathed, and bent to fate.

"POW".

A roar made the air vibrate. She opened her eyes: she was alive and in front of her the body of the being was reduced to a thousand pieces, blood smeared the light walls of the room, some sketches had reached the white shirt and skirt she was wearing.

She jumped up, legs trembling, and lifted her head, eyes wide and alert: in front of her stood a figure in a strange dark blue suit, white hair that struck by the moonlight seemed silver and a dark bandage covering his eyes.

"Oh, can you see them too?" the man asked with a note of amazement, tilting his head to one side, his lips curved in a curious smile.

Y/n didn't think twice: taking all the air she had in her lungs, she turned around, and started running.
