The Invitation

Sewing, stitching, and embroidering were all that Marinette's brain could process. Are these the correct measurements? Would Adrien even like this design? Shouldn't she be making a dress for herself?

Sketching the design had been the easy part, she took a glance (as if she needed to) at what Adrien wore to school most days: blue jeans, black shirts with a pop of color, and a bunch of different flannels. She came up with a black suit that was hand-embroidered with color-changing thread she made herself (with a little magic kwami help, of course) and golden details. Now she's been trying to put the suit together in secret for the past three weeks, while also balancing being Ladybug with organizing the Sadie Hawkins dance.

Who said being Marinette was easy?

She had fallen asleep on top of her keyboard when Tikki tried to calmly wake her up for patrol with Chat Noir.

"Marinette..." no answer from the girl. "Marinette, wake up, Chat must be waiting already" still nothing. "MARI-"

"I'M UP! I'M UP! I didn't sleep through patrol, did I? Oh, Chat's gonna be so mad if I slept through patrol" Marinette woke up with a start, mindlessly changing into regular clothes from her pajamas.

"Relax, you still have a few minutes, Marinette" Tikki floated behind her, trying to keep up as she walked like a tornado around her room.

"Well, then I better hurry up"

"Right" the kwami said "Then why are you changing your clothes?"

"For the patrol?" it took Marinette a second to realize "OH! Right. Tikki, spots on!"

As Ladybug, Marinette felt like she could do anything: Fighting against a villain? A piece of cake. Fighting against multiple villains? She and Chat Noir could do it. Even confessing to Adrien seemed possible wearing the spotted suit; would he even date Ladybug? That's a question she did not have the answer to.

She swung across Paris, taking in all the beauty of her city until she saw her partner sitting on a house roof, waiting for her.

"Hi, Chat" she said as she landed and sat next to him.

"Hey, Bugaboo. I thought you weren't coming after all" he gave her a sideways smile and bumped her shoulder.

"Sorry about that, I've been working on a project lately"

"May I know what the project's about?"

"Sorry, Chat, but we can't-" she began to explain, but got cut short.

"'Know anything about our personal lives' I know, I know" he said, putting quotation marks "Just this one time, please?" he pouted, and with a roll of her eyes she said:

"It's just a gift, a very special one"

"For me?"

"You wish"

"Haha, very funny!" Chat scowled at her. "I don't even know your birthday. Can't we even know each other's birthdays? I could bring you macarons from a patisserie I know downtown"

Ladybug smiled at the thought of Chat Noir getting her macarons that she probably baked herself for her parents' shop and said:

"We could have fake birthdays just so we can exchange gifts"

"For real?"

"Sure"

"I want mine to be September 27th"

"But that's today?"

"And I would like my gift to be a kiss from my lady" he leaned in and puckered up his lips.
