Adrien's POV
One of my closest friends? Really? he asked himself all the way home.
Adrien didn't know what had come over him when he said that. No, that definitely wasn't what he meant to say. But then again, he didn't know what he had meant to say.
The only thing he knew for sure, is that he was happy that Marinette asked him to the Sadie Hawkins Dance. More than happy, ecstatic even. And Marinette was one of his closest friends.
Before he even noticed, his bodyguard had parked the car in front of his house where his dad was waiting to do the fitting.
"Thanks, G" he muttered and went inside, without waiting for any response.
Inside Adrien's house, there was a surprising amount of people, running with clothes and fabric from the living room to his dad's studio.
Now, this is something, he thought.
"Adrien" he turned around to see Nathalie with a suit holder bag in her hands "Go change, your dad will be waiting for you"
"Why are there so many people here?" the boy walked towards her and grabbed the bag.
"New suppliers" she answered "That's why Mr. Agreste is doing a fitting"
"Oh, right" he said and started walking to his room.
"Adrien, what are you wearing?" Nathalie seemed to be noticing the black suit just now. Adrien traced back his steps and said:
"My date to the school dance made it for me" he said "You do remember Marinette, right?"
"The baker's daughter?"
"C'mon, Nathalie, she came here like a week ago"
Nathalie still looked dazed, but Adrien didn't really care. So, he left, with the same amount of confidence he felt when he said that to his dad's assistant.
"Be back in a minute!" he shouted.
The boy barely had time to run to his room and lock himself in, before Plagg came out of his shirt looking very pleased with himself.
"So you have finally opened your eyes" he said, flying around Adrien's head.
"I don't wanna hear it" Adrien had already too much going around in his head to have Plagg teasing him about his date.
"Oh, please" the kwami rolled his eyes "You are going to the dance with Pigtails..."
"Don't call her Pigtails, you stinky sock" the boy had already finished changing suits, folding the one Marinette made with care.
"After literal years of denying all of your undying feelings for her"
Adrien was starting to get a migraine, so he turned around and pointed a finger to Plagg.
"That's enough" he said "I'm gonna go with my dad now"
"You can't run away from this conversation forever, you know"
"I sure can!"
And he sure did, at least for as long as the fitting lasted. Adrien had to go through 17 suits until his dad was happy with the fabrics and the design; so as soon as he took off the last one he transformed into Chat Noir, giving Plagg no time to protest, and left for patrol. And it was raining.
Great. He thought. Just my luck.
Chat found his lady under a little roof, shivering against a wall. Still beautiful as ever.
