"Happy birthday again," Reon says with a smile as takes a teaspoon and places it on his plate next to his slice of cake.
"Yeah, I don't think I've said this yet. Happy birthday, Eita," Satori says.
"Thanks a lot you guys. I really appreciate it. Anyway, after we eat, wanna go to my room? It's quite messy, but I'll clean it up."
"Sure!! We can play a game. But don't forget to open our gifts Eita-kun!!"
I laugh and nod. "Right, who's getting two slices again?"
"We all get one and you get four slices, birthday boy."
I chuckle. "No, I'd rather everyone get two slices and I get one," I respond.
"I think we can eat one slice each and you can just keep the rest."
"Pfft why didn't I think of that?" Hayato says. "And you can eat the rest with your little boyfriend. Tell him we bought it though."
Can he not remind me of Kenjirou? I glare at him.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asks, looking at me.
I sigh. "Kenjirou forgot my birthday."
"Oh. My. Gosh," he responds with wide eyes, taking his last piece from the slice of cake with his spoon. "Oh my gosh oh my gosh, are you joking?"
I stare at him even more. "Yes, yes, I'm serious."
"Oh my gosh, I can't believe it," Reon adds, but I don't know what to say. Everyone else is surprised too, but they didn't say anything.
I smile. I love Kenjirou, and I know Kenjirou loves me. But why did he forget my birthday? He remembers our anniversary, but not my birthday? Does he only remember our anniversary because we recently celebrated it? Am I sure that he loves me? The thought makes my chest tighten and I eat as quickly as possible. Should I apologize and tell him I don't want to break up? Did he take it seriously?
The moment I realize myself again, Satori was shaking my shoulders. "Wakey wakey, Eita!!" he shouts. I jump; my heart almost skips a beat, and I get out of my position where I rested my head on my right palm.
"Come on, Eita! We're done eating, let's go to your room!!"
"Let's," I say quietly as I get up, open the door and bring them into my room.
"Wow, Semisemi. You're so sweet. Look at all these," my best friend exclaims, pointing to all of the picture frames in my room. "If my Wakatoshi-kun here didn't exist, I'd probably go for you," he says again, putting his hand on Wakatoshi's shoulder.
I laugh. "If Wakatoshi didn't exist, you'd be sad because Kenjirou would still exist."
"Well, if both Wakatoshi and Kenjirou didn't exist."
"But then, we'd still be—"
"Both of you, just shut up," Reon interrupts.
I laugh, and Wakatoshi laughs. He must feel u bothered that his boyfriend is saying these— which is great, honestly. "Sorry. What do you wanna play?" I ask.
"Would you rather."
"Truth or Dare."
"Would you rather."
"Truth or Dare.""You all are so lame, let's just play cards. Old-fashioned but still great."
I chuckle. I haven't played cards in a while although I kept a few decks in my room. "I agree," I add. "It's way more fun and exciting than your boring games."
"Shut up, they aren't boring," Satori responds.
"Well, they're not very boring, but cards are traditional and exciting," Wakatoshi replies.
"Wow Ushi, you just betrayed me," Satori responds again, crossing his arms and pouting.
I laugh. I don't know if it's because Wakatoshi doesn't like truth or dare, or because of Satori's response. However, I'm sure that Wakatoshi is sick of all the dares he gets, and I couldn't relate more— I hate them too, mostly because of Satori. "Alright, cards it is. Sit in a circle guys," I say.
I grab a deck from my cupboard and sit between Hayato and Reon in the circle. Then, I place it on the floor, and divide it into five.
"Right, so the rule is one number above or below the previous number," I explain. "Ace, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, jack, queen, king, and back to ace."
"You put a card downwards and say what it is, others will say if they think you're lying. If they're right, you get the whole stack of cards in the middle. If they're wrong, they get it."
"Alright, alright, sounds good. But can we please add a catch?" Satori pleads as he smirks, leaning towards me and looking right into my eyes. His face screams mischief to me, I don't know why.
"Fine. What is it?"
"I'll keep it simple. The loser has to do anything the winner says, but just one thing," he answers, putting up his index finger when he said "one." He looks to me, then to Wakatoshi, then to Hayato, then Reon.
Reon stares back. "That's so cliché," he replies, rolling his eyes. "Just like those in romance dramas."
"Gosh, you watch romance dramas? Wow, never knew you were that desperate and lonely," Satori replies, laughing as he clutches his stomach. I laugh. Does he really? Because I don't see why not.
"Too bad Wakatoshi and Satori and Eita and Shirabu have to be all lovey-dovey in front of you," Hayato teases. "In front of us," he corrected what he said earlier as he side-eyes the poor boy.
But it's not even right, Wakatoshi and Satori do not do that much PDA, or public displays of affection; I think it's because Wakatoshi isn't a big fan of it. Kenjirou and I don't do PDA as well, and I think it's the same reason. Kenjirou isn't a big fan of it too— he's such a tsundere, but I learnt to get used to it. He didn't even want to hold my hand when we walk in school, and I think it's the same for Wakatoshi.
Reon doesn't respond, so I speak. "Alright, alright. Let's start."
